Ok, who do I have to bride to add a tandem heli to G3? :)

Something like the Hirobo Vertol / CH48 (?)

Just an idea of mine. :D

Cool idea ...

My MS Composit CH46 WIP ... pic (http://img350.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ch46wip22kt.jpg)

MS Composit CH46 product page ... link (http://www.mscomposit.com/Products/CH-46_Sea_Knight/body_ch-46_sea_knight.html)

Can someone from KE say whether G3 can do a tandem rotor ?

I looked into this today. It isn't working in current builds. You can add a second heli mechanics component and that works fine but the problem is that you won't find a way to make one of the rotors turn in the opposite direction, which is needed to counter for torque.

So you can get two rotors but you'll still need a tail rotor. Not what you have in mind.

I'll see if we can add this to a future patch. It looks like everything is there but we won't know for sure until we dig into it so I can't promise when this will be available.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for looking into that for me. I'll just put the CH46 to the back of the "hanger".

It would great if G3 could do tandem/coaxial rotor configurations. The Hirobo XRB Lama (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=291945) is pretty popular at my LHS.

regards,

Tony.

Just in case you do decide to support coaxial rotors ...XRB Lama render (http://www.te123.f9.co.uk/models/g3/lama_render.jpg)

i've been trying to make a working x-ufo (4 sets of mechanics) and i'v found a way to achive this

first the limitations ive found so far
,it has to be a symetrical blade and have no washout

set up the first mechanics then add a single movable pod
add a fixed servo set to 100%
alter one of the rotations to 180 and apply the fixed servo to it
add a set of mechanics to the movable pod and they will be inverted, set it up excactly the same as the first set
give them both a rotor set and use a symetrical blade with no washout (will have to create a new blade set for this)
align the rotors and move one slightly above the other
done,, no more tail rotor :-)

i've only made fixed pitched helis this way so far for collective just renember to reverse the controls for the inverted mechanics
i have a simple FP electric heli done like this if any would like it just say and i'll send it.

I'm not at home at the moment so i'll post it about this time tomorrow,
I'v been experimenting with using heli mechanics to make a 4d shock flyer but its not perfect yet although it looks promising
