We've released a command-line tool that converts 3ds files to kex format. This tool is called "3ds2kex" and can be found in the KEMax downloads (http://www.knifeedge.com/KEmax/downloads.php).
This is a beta tool. There is no support for moving control surfaces or retractable landing gear at this time.
This tool will allow modelers to create rudimentary custom aircraft for RealFlight using AC3D and other share/free-ware modeling applications.
Please feel free to test it out and report any bugs that you find, but understand that we are offering this in a pre-release state and there are probably many bugs.
