Type 2 Stick Questions

Hi, I'm a newby so if this has already been answered, I apologize. I purchased my SIM as a type 2 for helicopter sim. The left stick has the ratcheting detent. I read the article on how to change from a Type 2 to a Type 1 and went in and removed the small silver metal piece that causes the ratchet.

My problem now is that the stick is lifeless and does not act like the stick on a real radio. The guy at the local hobby shop said something about replacing the silver metal piece with rubber to make the stick not flop as much.

Any ideas ???

put the little silver piece back on and put a piese of fuel tubing on the silver piece that way there will be your tention but will not rachet :)
