Is this aircraft Full scale or RC? (Yes i stole this idea from zelatio)
I want to see what you think it is! :D

Not R/C all you have to do is take a look at Bill's fingers on the controller....his right thumb would be giving down elevator...when the full scale has up elvator applied

i went and looked at some real ones on google and there is not a control rod sticking out the back connecting to the elevator like the one in the pic has

full scale, i know that Bill also has a 50% scaled Oracle Challenger, but his doesnt have the wires and stuff and his smokes are really, really thick

plus, it doesn't look like he has the right control input for that knife edge.

check how the plane's smoke scaled with the grass and the runway, it's GIANT!

full scale ^_^

and if you look closely, you can see Sean Tucker's face looking toward the runway

Fake pic.

Its Photo Chopped.

(real pic with the plane.....but the control horn is added)
Would you really see a horn on a plane that big????

He has a BIG plane........

Either that.....or the horn and horizon lines are chopped.

I'm gunna say real. Just take a look at this picture, the control horn really is that big. And I was wondering what that little star thingy was but it's on the real one too in the 2nd pic.

Here's Sean's Challenger I took at Oshkosh. Compare the two, and two things appear different; Sean's prop in my pic has two distinct, red colored stripes on his 3 bladed prop (the RC pic has a single white stripe on each blade). His canopy on my shot, does not have the reinforced canopy brace, just forward of the pilot. The RC pic has one.

Everything else looks pretty good, as far as I can tell. I'm torn on this one. It does appear the pilot has his head turned to look at the ground clearance off the low wing.

I'm going to say it's real, in spite of the discrepancies.

The "star"...the horizon indicator......wouldnt hold its integrity at that scale.
In my eyes........its too thin for a scale model.

thats another give away.

the star thing is actually removeable, those are actually sensors (i think, thats what my friend told me) that records datas like G' forces and speed and stuff

and Rider, props are change able ^_^

Well if you look at the canopies they are different. I'm going to say that its rc because if you look at his thumbs they seem to be doing what the plane is but any one can imatate the movement of a real airplane with a radio. And if you look at the elevator there isn't much up elevator and if you look at his thumbs he is giving it full throttle and rudder. What is that plane in the background r1derbike?

Very nice observations guys! :D No it's not photo shopped either :p ,the answer will be revealed soon.

What is that plane in the background r1derbike?If memory serves, that is an Extra 300L (low wing).

BTW, I have over 150 piccies on my AirVenture 2007 (Oshkosh) photo website, if interested. Link below:

Its a real "staged" photo,

Sean D. and Brian showed me those pics when I was in Salinas to Dynamic Balance the prop on the Oracle Challenger.

They had a bunch of neat pics from a trip they made to South America to deliver a plane to a customer who is also an RC enthuisiast.

Aha! I knew it! :D

Sean D. Tucker is a MANIAC in that thing! The Collaborators were super at Oshkosh this year! I MUST HAVE that Edge 540, which was part of the Collaborators show, piloted by Bill Stein. That thing is INCREDIBLE. I have not seen another plane do a better knife-edge spin. Wings perfectly vertical, during the maneuver.

Sean does his best flying Napoleon Solo (Man From U.N.C.L.E. fans will recognize him...) so he may show-off just his brand of aviation insanity!

His solo performances just have to be seen, to be believed. Especially the tail slides.

The star things are reference lines. Each line is a specific angle and the pilot lines them up to the horizon. They show the pilot his "AoA" or angle of attack.

the start thingies is more like what BKM72 was saying.

Most maneuvers like to get you to look to the left. to watch the wings disect Horizon. (Or if you are seated way back from the wings, you wings will not disect the Horizon. so they use a rail to bring them back to normal from you.
They are Attitude indicators that help you judge where you plane may be during a loop (That as far as I have gotten in the Basic Aerobatics book)
G sensors are in the center. (they would give incorrect readings if they were at the wing tips)

I said real. because of the Star Attitude indicator, and the Spade and the Horn was throwing me.

But I did notice that the plane was not over the Runway (It looks like it is a little off to its right of the Runway.

(I don't know Bill by the Pic) Bills face tells it all.

Dohh.

I should not have spent so much time trying to find Disect in the dictionary.

so that's what it was, thanks! i now understand more about full scale aerobats

and yes, he wasnt over the runway because if he was, Bill hempel will be blown off of it ^_^

Here is the answer, Well those of you that said it was RC,i can't beleive i'm saying this but you were wrong  ,Those who said it was full scale were right!

The plane was Sean D's Pitts challenger, bill was just messing around pretending to fly it :p .
Very good observations everyone! ;)

A bit off topic, but noticed your avatar. I receive AVWeb and it said the Sea Wind may never be certified now. I hope that's not true. That is one beautiful airplane.

I know this has been answered already but the thing that really made me know it was full scale was the presence of the spads. They are not used in RC.
