so with all the water effects and such I think it would be great if a carrier were made with lines to hook onto. A moving carrier would add to the challenge  anyone up to the challenge?

Challenge? Does this mean you know that it can be done? I'm betting it can't.

It could be possible in multiplayer mode. E.g. one user is steering the carrier model and the others are landing on it. Dunno how large models can be or if the collision handling really works good enough to make planes land on a carrier model.
Would be interesting to try though.

There is a scale 747 on the swaps so I guess size would not be a problem. But, will it be able to have aircraft land on it is another. It would be very easy to test though with a big cube.

I think it would be a great multiplayer feature. I'm not exactly sure how well the physics are in G4 to account for buoyancy but its a shot out there.

Microsoft Flight Simulator allows you to make carrier landings, so I'm sure it's completely possible. If you can land a heli on a dock, you can land on a carrier. It's all in the software if it's a hard surface. Expecting it to be moving, might be a little too much to ask.

if g3 was to do it it would be a (simulated) physical hook catching a physical wire or pole or Poles. AFAIK there is no rope or wire or string with collision mesh.
you could do a long complicated chain of sorts ?
NE way. i have yet to see MS make a actual catch of the wire on the hook. Could you post a screen shot or lead me to a forum with pics of the Aircraft catching a wire..

You missunderstood. There's no carrier hook, but I was referring to a hard landing surface in the water.
It could be done in the software just by making the plane stop it it hits the right spot.
In MS flight simulator, I was only able to land the Cessna and helis. I was only able to bring the Cessna to a stop twice. All the other times it overshot.

I understand now. :p
I do recall the MSFS98 days of flying a heli in the under deck of the aircraft carrier.
now that was fun.
But the days of MSFS are gone now. I will keep my some 200+ heli I have for MSFS98 2k and FS9. and maybe teach my kid. but for Autos I will leave it to the real thing.

FSX acceleration expansion will have the carrier, cable, and catapult for there new F-18

So, when was the last time you landed your RC plane/heli on an aircraft carrier?

Well, I used to do it while deployed on one (some 20 years ago). Only problem was making sure you avoided the aircraft tie-downs for the full scale birds. They'd snag an RC wheel in a heartbeat.

They'd snag an RC wheel in a heartbeat. Now THAT would put you in a pickle, with the "pickle".

For the past week I have been practicing carrier landing and have been able to stop on deck using full brakes and sometimes a ground loop. Would be nice to see arresting wires. Any idea when that might be?

If someone wanted to do something really challenging. How about a parasite fighter on a Blimp?
