is this possible? id like to load up G4 on my home computer and my work computer, and just carry the controller back and forth, is this possible? or is there some kind of anti-piracy crap that would prevent this?
i paid good money for G4(should arrive today) seems like i ought to be able to play it where and when i want..... :D
can this be done?

Yes it should be able to be done, just as it was possible with G3 as long as you have the controller. I've read however that it is against the EULA.

End User License Agreement.
Basically the deal you agree to when installing the software.

i am the "end user", i will not be selling it for profit, or sharing with others for free.
i will simply be playing the software that i purchased and own. its mine after all right? :D

Just wanted to note that the EULA might be against the law in certain countries, so the unlawful passages might became meaningless.
E.g. Microsoft usually uses EULAs which are against European laws and therefore partially meaningless.

Read the agreement. You'll find it in your RF folder of your har drive. Look for a 'documents' folder. In G3, the very first item answers your question. If you scour the forums, you'll find that plenty of people (myself may or may not be included) have the install on multiple PCs.

I've done it, and there is really nothing they can do about it. As long as you aren't using them both at once, it's perfectly all right.

And KE has never intended to do anything about it, they never had a problem with it.

I'm only playing devil's advocate here z, but where in the EULA does it say that 'As long as you aren't using them both at once, it's perfectly all right?' My point is that people are looking to justify multiple installs (with KE's blessing for lack of a better word), but it just isn't there. Of course it's possible to do multiple installs, but with KE's permission? That's a different story. Paragraph 1 states loading into RAM or a storage device 1 time. Not 2 different hard drives. I will not say whether I'm being hypocritical or not. Again, my only point is that the thread starter, and another poster are looking for permission from KE to install on multiple machines. Permission, according to the EULA, is simply not there.

This is a non-issue...you need a registered controller to use G4, which can't be plugged into more than one computer at any given time.

I'm sure everyone here is aware of that. The original poster was wondering what 'anti-piracy crap' might prevent him from doing the multiple install. Then 0xdeadbeef brought up the EULA. Dollars to doughnuts you don't get an ok from GreatPlanes.

...the EULA closely, you will find that you also cannot, display the software,
including "screenshots" of the software. So, all of you that have posted
screenshots on this forum are technically in violation of the EULA.
It's like the old law against spitting on the sidewalk in some towns. I doubt
that posting a screenshot, as well as installing on two different machines
are enforced.
Also, technically I am in violation of the EULA because I frequently take a
screenshot of an aircraft I'm flying and then use it as my desktop wallpaper,
which is technically displaying the software.

to clearify, yes, im simply asking if it can get done. not looking for permission. like i said i paid for it, i own it. its mine. and im not sharing it. i should be able to play a game that i own, whenever and where ever i care to do so. thats not asking too much is it?
glad to hear i can do what i want.
and to the guy that said you have to have a registered controller, i have two of those ;)

Maybe you summed it up best. Yes it's possible. No, it's not permitted. Users are supposed to be bound by the EULA. I'm done with this thread.

The RF G2 I bought was installed at a friends Hobby Shop for a very short while. I proceeded to install it at my home, it ran fine and then one week after would not.
I tried everything within my software skill capacity to get it going, no luck. I called up tech support and was shocked to hear that it was "locked out" because of piracy. I explained that this was not the case and I was told that I had to get the Hobby Shop to call them, they did and it was "unlocked" and worked ever since.
I am not too sure how they handle dual installations these days. I would like to know since I will be buying G4 and have one PC in my home office, and one in my living room hooked up to my 55" plasma TV, both of which I would like to use.
You think you paid good money, this is very cheap compared to what we paid for G2, over $350 :)
For the graphics, controller and realism, this is very cheap. I have had from the first generation to G2 and now it seems justifiable to get G4 so I will purchase it.
They have paid for themselves 1,000,000 times, I can't express the importance of having one for both newbies and for advanced flyers like myself who want to perfect current skills and learn new maneuvers.
It would be nice if there were a multi-user version available with 2 controllers. Then you could keep one at work and one at home without dragging the thing around all the time. Also, in a multi-pilot family like mine, good use could be made of the multimode feature with 2 controllers. Why even bother having multimode without multi-user bundles? Buy 2 copies? Hah!

You CAN install it on both systems provided you use the same registration info.
You'll of course only be able to run G4 on the computer with the Interlink Elite installed, so you're only ever running one copy at a time.

Many thanks Jose for the dual installation confirmation, this will make me a happier man :) Off to the shop tomorrow to grab one :D
Cheers.
