View Full Version : Cool tool for learning your system:
Yeah, I know most of you guys are computer geniuses but for the rest of us here is a tool that identifies exactly what you have and lists optional upgrades. Pretty neat! :)
It has a "Upgrade Configurator" which will scan your system and make recommendations.

It's online? last I checked it wanted to download some exe on my system without telling me where it will be downloaded, not to mention the notice has a spell error.
It's just another ActiveX deal so it can scan your system and then report the result.

More than that, I'm sorry.
When you allow the ActiveX to download it pretty much has access to all the files you have. Pretty useful for sending Trojan Viruses.
You got me to look. :o
Here is the site that has the "InSpecs" diagnostic tool that PowerLeap uses.

I saw that if you Google "PowerLeap" you get a big nasty warning that it may be unsafe. I don't understand what that is all about, because PowerLeap is a legit business. Well, I went to the home site and read up on it and also read up on PowerLeap and I do not have any concerns about this ActiveX control but I see now what you are saying about potential malicious ActiveX downloads.

Well I did it and used their recommendation for a new video card. But I used one of their links to Circuit City and got it for 1/2 price with free shipping. Can't wait to get it. See what Realflight is supposed to look like with a good video card. Of course since I am upgrading my video card, I have to upgrade my power supply too. Mine isn't powerful enough for this card. It never ends. LOL. But at least the power supplys are not that expensive. Thanks for the link. I was trying to figure out what kind of video card I could get for my computer. Now I know. Awesome. I did run my spyware after I did this just to be safe.
Thanks,
Bill
