Installer Failed

Hi,
I have an Everex XT5000T, upgraded to 2 Gigs ram and TL-64. Running Vista with Avast Anti-Virus. I've even tried install in safe mode but always get "Knife Edge Software Installer has stopped working".

I am installing as admin too but no avail...........

There is a thread here on how to install in Vista. Have you followed those directions? Also, do you have any theme managers running? Those can cause problems.

Haven't seen a thread here relating to install. saw one where an error was encountered after install but I can't even get that.

Tried disabled AV and defender but still too no avail..........

Finally figured it out, with AMD CPU's you must have DEP enabled only for Windows applications..............

Also "Safe mode" disables the "Microsoft Installer Service" which prevents most program installations from occuring.

You typically should bring up Windows in normal mode to install software.

I installed normal mode under Admin. Turning DEP to Windows applications only installed it just fine.

Runs great on the laptop. Default settings on high quality for most things yeilded over 180 FPS. I set AA 8-s and still get 60-90 FPS at 1440x900 with no overclocks or anything else.
