Hi all,

I modeled a helicopter to suit RF G3.5

it's name is Trex Nitro pro - Version 9

People are reporting that it is crashing when they try and use it on G4

What do I have to do to fix it?

Just give me a basic idea I will work it out from there.

I modeled it 3D studio max v9.

Is there a new kmax exporter?

I realy liked your heli in g 3.5 hope you get it to work in g-4
Have you considered doing T-Rex 600e?

Stuart:

I called tech support tonight because Every other one of my g3.5 helis flies correctly under g4, except my beloved 600 n that you made. They "tested" it and said it worked fine. I removed it, downloaded ver 9 again, and re-imported it. Still causes g4 to shutdown, unfortunately

Have OTHERS besides me reported difficulties with it causing program to shut down, or just me?

Thanks.

Jay

Strange, I don't see a problem on my end.

Do you have the latest update? Is Realflight installed into default directory?

Yes .035, and yes default directory. FOR the record, Stuart's Version 8 trex works with NO problems at all. Graphics and red canopy on version 9 are better though, and thats what I flew on g3.5. Really love to have them back on g4..but alas, I am the system crash guy that Stuart writes of...

There still many issues with G4 and custom aircraft. The Trex fails to load 8 out of ten times causing G4 to exit to windows with no messages. It has loaded and been able to fly but crashed G4 when I tried to EDIT the aircraft. This is not the only aircraft I have had similar problems with. We need to document all these problems with as much detail as possible and submit for KE to be able to repair.

I reported this some time ago
http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18879
I was told I had found a bug and they were looking into it.

I have also seen at least 1 other thread with this issue

also there is import issue get around in that tread that works for some but it still crashes me out every time.

I also called tech support over a week ago and left a callback # still no callback.

I noticed an announcment dated today to be paitiant with tech support. YA RIGHT!and the checks in the mail too!

Open the attached files in notepad

The Format of the model files is different.

Trex 600 Nitro Pro v9-test.rfvehicle is From G4
Trex 600 Nitro Pro v9.plnG3 is from G3

Trex 600 Nitro Pro v9-test.rfvehicle is a G4 base heli save as Trex 600 Nitro Pro v9-test.rfvehicle

for a test

I think the formatting of the code could cause a problem.

R.F. Tech support please confirm

I just imported it into G4 and it crashed mine too. I got a runtime error but RF crashed to quick for me to get a screen shot. RF would not even start up until I when in a deleted the files because it was the last aircraft I had open. I hope they fix the bug on that one. I like your 600N. hey Frank, It works with no issues for you?

I imported it twice,
First time I got G4, but the switches were reversed.
I uninstalled the model when the new Update was available.
Re-imported after the update and switches were correctly mapped.

I'll try again tonight.

I wonder, are the ones having problems running Vista or XP?

I am running Vista x32.

Right now I have G4 on my XP drive. I haven't tried it on my Vista x64 drive yet.

I've uninstalled the model once again, and re-imported it.
It only asked me to overwrite the Radix blade, I said yes.
It works.

Uninstalled it again, and removed any traces of the model in the realflight directory.
I re-downloaded the model from the swaps and imported it via simulation menu.

Still works great!

Stuart, if it's OK with you I can upload the G4 .rfx of this model here in this thread. Maybe there are still problems importing as a .g3x in other's systems.

Sure Post it

I would like to look at the .rfx file.

You know you can open this in Notepad to compare it to the G3 version.

Here it is G4 ready.

You should always un-install the old model via "manage user files" tab under simulation menu to avoid conflicts.
You may be prompted to overwrite a file, go ahead and say yes.

Stuart it is an awesome heli model. You are a master, I agree with Lonnie, Please - Please make a TREX 600 CF.

Thanks,

Hi Guy's

I have looked that the file that phrank posted

The model file Trex 600 Nitro Pro v9.rfvehicle is in the correct format to suit G4.

Every one should be able to load this model now.

Thanks to phrank for uploading a correctly imported version of the Trex 600 Nitro Pro v9
for Realflight G4, As I do not have G4 yet.

Please let me know how you all are doing once you try this new file.

As for the model requests from Terry and others. I am sorry but I simply do not have the time to do another model. That one took me 3 months nearly every evening after work.

It was done for free to so if R.F. wants to pay me to do another one Maybe I will.

How much would you charge me? I would be willing to take pics for the CS .tga being I have a 600CF.

I would love to own an original stuartmp74 model all to myself :D

OK, that was premature. I was flying it fine with no problems but got the unexpected error message when I went to close G4. I used the "manage user files" to delete the aircraft and colorschemes. I only had to overwrite the Radix blades when I re-imported it and it imported successfully. I only got the error on close but it happens every time I close the program.

I tied it again as well under vista this time seems to work without crashing my program. so far.
It does jump around on the ground a little though. ant Ideas?

Sorry Guy's I have no Idea why it is not working.

Has anyone asked someone from Real Flight support to try it?

Maybe this is the next step?

This will hopefully give us an answer to weather it G4 or your P.C. or

Weather it is the Trex Model inside G4.

I'm not sure.

This is why I started this post in the designer corner.

I wanted to know is there a difference between G3.5 Models and G4 Models.

Do I have to add something or change something to make it compatible with G4.

I would hope someone from R.F. Support could answer this.

Unfortunately no one for R.F. Support has taken the time to put input into this thread.

I am on holidays now for two weeks & have a bit of time so I will review the

G4 Artists Reference.pdf document and compare it to my 3DS Max Model.

It will take some time.

It will also compare the physics file with a standard G4 model file.

This will take some time to.

I will post my findings and my progress.

I will try my best to get it working for you guy’s

Who will be online over Christmas to help me test as I do not have G4?

Found some Things wrong in my 3DS File.
I am updating stuff Now

stuartmp74

Try both of these files

I did a few modifications to the 3ds Max file

Remember to delete all old files first before importing

Though the manage user files menu

Let me know how you go.

Some Questions I have.

1. Can you have G3.5 & G4 installed at the same time?
2. Can someone send me a screen shot of the directory structure for the G4 install directory. is it :C:\Program Files\RealFlightG4

it also looks like the custom model file live somewhere like here

C:\Users\Frank\Documents\RealFlight G4\Vehicles\CustomModels\

can someone send me a second screen shot of the directory structure from RealFlight G4\

onwards

Thanks Guy's

Like I said I will try and get it working for you.

Let me know how you go.

I still do not see a problem from my end.

By the way, congrats on your heli making into the Sim Article on the February '08 issue of RCHeli. There are about 3 screenshots with the Red/Yellow/Blue Black Skids colorscheme.

stuartmp74,
I have tryed the files and I could not load the Trex_600N-G4-V1.rfx in G4 it says all the files are not in the rfx. I did load the Trex_600N-G4-V1.g3x and so far it is working with no errors. Even when I close Realflight I do not get the error no more.

I am using Windows Vista Business logged on as the Administrator.

G4 version is the current release.

I hope this helps you.
