This is one who's design I've been sitting on for a while. It should be a pretty quick build as it's an easy one.

That is a great plane! My dad's friend in Michigan has it at his house on Browns lake, I got to go for a flight in it hopping from lake to lake last time I was back. I'll have to send him some pics when your done.

Do you get your pilots from the sims? they look exacly like them.

I use a body skeleton and mesh from Milkshape (a 3D game character program that can produce Sim characters, which is why they look like that) and import it into 3D Studio as a 3DS file. From there I apply the texture as part of my colorscheme.

Why don't you use characters from the sims2? I have it.

I've got it as well (or one of my kids does), but I'm not sure if the character format is compatible with my tools. Plus using actual characters from the game would be copyright infringement.

I'll scan my my passport, let me get it. That would be hilarious. Any size requirements of the pic?

Any size requirements of the pic?Not really, but I try to use not more than is necessary on the TGA file. As an example, here's the texture map I used on the Spit.

Tim or Todd (sorry I'm lousy at remembering names),
I just wanted to give you a heads up. This is what I'm planning on putting next to you in the cockpit. :D

Status shot, before I hit the hay. There is a canopy, but since I haven't set the transparency up yet I left it off so the crew (still to be altered) was visible.

All kidding aside, a highly detailed face would eat a considerable amount of graphics resources. As it is, the woman's head only uses 148 polys and the portion on the texture map allocated to it is 175x195 pixels. So it is not what you would call Hi-Res.

Floats are done, so that completes the 3D model. On to the texture mapping.

I like how there hand's are in each others laps. . That's Great stuff...
You should make her head bend down to his lap with a toggle switch :D

Close, but not quite. I did keep it clean, but the temptation is always there. Here's one from the top.

Do you guys (and gals) build and fly real models as well? I barly have time to get online once in a while and play with the sim otherwise I spend all time building and flying/crashing. I would love to do some of this 3d work but seems very time consuming?
Anyhow I think she looks great even though she is a few polygons short :D Maybe if you added a few more in the right place stang killa might let her grab his joystick ;)

I would love to do some of this 3d work but seems very time consuming?I know I do. Right now I have 10 active planes, many I've modeled for RF so I can fly them all the time.
Usually it's a toss up as to whether I spend my "free" time building sim or real.

The colorscheme is done and I'm finishing up on the physics. For those of you who don't know him, that's our buddy Mr. T Norton in the right seat. We're not entirely sure who that is in the left seat though.

Classic Doug, can't wait to fly it.
Pretty funny seeing my face in a plane :)

OK, she's heading for the swaps (err, the G4 Projects thread). She flies about as well as I would expect for this design, but I still may play around with the physics a bit. I couldn't find any hard data on the airfoils used, so by "eye ball" I picked a Clark Y with just a bit of a twist. If anyone has any better info on that, please let me know.

From looking at the TGA file i would have to say that the girl in the left seat is Victoria Silvstedt(You know, the playboy model)Boy would i like to have her sitting next to me.
