I have recently purchased Real Flight G4. What do I need to do to get an MD500? I've tried downloading off the swap pages, but it always tells me that it is based on a model that I do not have.

So..how do I get it to work, or how do I get this model that I do not have?

I just had a quick look... Requires: MD 500E from Add-Ons 5. You need a file with the EA extension, then you can add the varients and colour schemes. For this particular heli, your out of luck.

Thank you Ride, as I have done a search and didn't particularly find a definite answer.

Now can I just install add-on 5 to be able to run this heli?

Add-on's are not yet compatible with G4, it is rumored that they are "working on it"

Although I understand your trying to tell every new member to use the search function BUT did you ever consider that many new users are exactly that NEW USERS? When I was new to G3 I didn't exactly know what to search for IE: terminology or wording. as a matter of fact I still have trouble sometimes. Take a step back and try and help them as well as educate them on forum edicate. after they have been here awhile you can chastise them :)

I thought the terminology or wording for which to search in this case was self-evident. Maybe you could answer some of these questions. There are several people who suggest using the search function. Others criticize those people for directing "NEW USERS" to the search function. Rarely do those same people answer the questions that are asked over and over again. Twice in 2 consecutive days this exact same question came up. In both cases I told the person exactly what terms to search for. As for being a new user; if you can go through the task of registering, using a search function should be easy. As for as etiquette goes, in my opinion, searching should always precede starting a new thread. And if you are not getting the hits you hoped for, why not go back a page or two or five in the support forum? See what people have been talking about recently? You'll probably find the answer to your question, more often than not. And, you'll get your answer quicker. I'll tell you what, I'll lay off the threads where I would otherwise tell them to search. I'll let you or others answer them for awhile.

Oh, SO true!

The problem is that they don't really try to help themselves first nor follow the usual forum "protocol" of lurking for a while first to get the "lay of the land".

In many forums people would be evicerated for this type of behaviour....

Why?

Now it's getting "useful" for the newbies.
