This is the result of a special request, plus it was something I had thought about some time ago. No plans were used in this case as I could only find various pictures.

That looks too cool dhk79 . Should be fun for sure.

Thank you! Finally a boat. I know this is a flight sim. But this may appeal to boat guys too, besides I've never been to a float fly where there was just planes. At least here in Iowa we run both at the events.

Thats a link to a site with some plans on it. From what the pictures show, the rake on the front of the boat is too extreme - It doesn't have a shallow enough angle. The link above has a good assortment of plans that make a very good airboat. All the designs have been tested and do work well.

Thanks so much for taking this project on!

RF is a flight sim. From what I can tell a boat could have a squared off bow and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.

I am finding that the physics on this are more of a pain in the neck than most planes. Get up any speed and it bounces all over the place.

I had that same problem when i was working on the Aquacraft Super Vee.
A series of thrusters and a down angle fixed the problem, also making the thruster power gyro controlled made it glide perfectly.

Please PM me if you need help.

It's an air boat, I'm not going to fudge the physics like that. I did make the nose longer because it looked better. But the only things I'll adjust are ballast & thrust.

OK, it's on the swaps but I asked people to consider it as a "just for fun" entry and not rate it.

Right ON. I'm going to give this a whirl right now. Thanks for taking the time to model this.

This thing is fun. It's only hindered by the odd discrepancy between land and water friction coefficients and our inability to make the water more slippery without altering the land.

For a good LOL place a thermal emitter on any map and drive the airboat throught it :D

is that what makes it take off at about 30-32 MPH or is that a different , But this thing is FUN i showed it to my little brother and he laughed like crazy when he saw it

I think that it makes dynamic lift as well (moving forward) but if you get it in a thermal it will just start going up, up ,up and awaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Heh.

It is great, but it's not wide enough! Has anyone else had a problem with it constantly tipping over??? I cant get it to go nice and straight!

On another note, I really think you did a great job on the design - looks very realistic! I especially like the driver, that totally makes it. Great job!!! :D

i also had the tipping problem

I have yet to have it tip over, as with many sport aircraft, it is possible to over control. In general, if you tip over you're going or turning too fast and that is not a design issue. If it wasn't possible to lose it, then it wouldn't be any fun.

it happens to me when i reset it or load it i understand that if you turn to hard it will tip.

On what field? I've only run it on Alpine Lake & Lake Douglas. Also what version of RF do you have?

I know you have G4 or you couldn't load it. What I was asking is at what patch version. For example, I'm running 4.00.044.

And Thermal Park is not a water field either.
