Hi,
Just received the G4 SW and Elite controller.
I am a Mode2 user (Norway).
The left stick (up/down motion (i.e. Throttle / Collective pitch) has "STEPS" on it when I move it.

I want to use the simulator for helicopter flying and do not want these steps.

How do I remove that?
Do I have to dissmantle the unit and remove som mechnical "stuff" insode the unit?

Thanks for all help/answers
/Knut

There have been many threads on this. Here's a thread that discusses a couple different methods.

Thanks for the help. It worked perfect.

For those checking out the answer to the problem in this thread. Here is what to do:
Open up the back of the elite controller, you will see a thin strip of metal screwed in above the throttle stick. Simply unscrew it, turn it over and screw it back in.
This eliminates the ratchet effect.

I just did this myself, WAY better for helis, and no damage to the controller is needed. I didn't even turn it over, I just loosened the screw some and this took enough rachet out of it for me.
