View Full Version : Unlimitted Fuel?

Hi,
I have the Simulator option Unlimitted Fuel = NO.
I am flying a 90 size model.
It doesn't seem to run out of fuel! I have even left it on the ground with collective pushing down at full throttle for a few hours. When I return it is still there buzzing away happily.

Just me or anyone else with the same experience?
By the way what is supposed to happen (in the simulator) when the heli runs out of fuel? I assume it will just stop and I'd be forced to autorotate, right?

Thanks/

The heli's engine will die when it runs out of fuel.

What heli are you flying? I will try to duplicate...

You can also use the 'gadgets' and select the fuel remaining option to see how much fuel is left. It should run to zero, and when it does, your heli should stop running.

set the nav-guide to read the fuel level so you can moniter it

try looking at the setting for fuel quantity in tank.
adjust it to mirror your tank in real life.....

One note on this.

Yes G3/G4 model fuel consumption, quite realistically too.

However I often find that I overestimate the amount of time I've been flying on the sim, and UNDER estimate the time in real life.

When I dial in the tank and engines to correspond to my real plane ( or select a model in G3/G4 based upon a real plane I own ) I find that the fuel consumption over time is right on the money.

In other words, my flights ( until out of fuel ) last just as long in G3/G4 as in real life.

Exception, the battery utilization for EP craft in G3/G4 seems a bit optimistic, though not by a huge amount.

When I reset my plane (red button) does it refill my fuel tank?
Just wondering.

Hi thanks for all the answers.
I didn't realise that it possible to edit the datafields for the Navigator Pop-up.
I have included the Fuel consumption data field and can now see that it is deceasing at a rate proportioanal with the engine load.

I am now flying a TREX700N wich I have downloaded from the Swap pages.
Fantastic model by the way and I have decided to get a TREX700N :-)
Strongly recommend to download this model.

At the time I wrote this post I was flying the Dominion90 which came with the simulator as standard.

However, I can now see the fuel consumption is dropping on this as well as I fly.

For my "leave it on the ground with down-collective experiment".
What happened is that the model would run-out of fuel and then simply automatically reset/restart. With the controls allready left at full throttle, full down collective it would simply restart the cycle.

Thanks/
