Okay I am new here but I had to ask does this model really fly like the real thing? I found the parkzone_t-28_trojan_EA to be so much easer that any other aileron control model I have tried on the simulator. I want this to be my first aileron plane so I have been getting as much sim time in on it as I can but I don’t want to get over confident and find out that it fly’s different. Any comments would help a rookie thanks!

I find that it fly's very close to my real one. The one thing that's not real close is landing, mine takes alot of time to slow down when landing. I have to go about 100 yards out and totally cut the throttle to land and it still rolls by me. I plan on putting flaps on it real soon to get rid of that problem.

it did seem to stop quick. thanks

The T-28 was early model of mine, it is close but not dead on, and like Tnorton said it does not have fast glide path as the real one does, and is light on take off, this can be edited by adding a little weight and turn the sim speed up to 130%.
I am doing a total remake model for 4.5 and could also make a new one for 3.5 if the interest is there.

I have many more flights on the real world model and the next should be much better.

I would love to see a more accurate model for the 3.5!! I was flying it again last night and did notice that it seems to recover too easy and you can practically stall and have it just drop at your feet. I would think the real thing is going to need a lot more speed to keep it aloft. I will try the 130%

I would second that interest!

I would third that interest to! :D

Well I found this thread and decided to try out the suggestions for making the t-28 more realistic as per actual model discribed. I bumped up the sim. speed to 130% and in the Aircraft Editor I increased the fues wieght to 16 ounces and the main wing to 8 ounces (what I finally came up with after adding alittle wieght at a time, after a couple shots of TQ :p ). I did a save as "t28 1". Now it will lift off in about 100 feet but the landings are not quite as you discribed for a long glide angle approach. Now the wieght is up considerably it, has improved in the roll out but, glide path is not quite as discribed due to the heavier wing loading. The modified t-28 still flys very good though. Maybe it needs alittle more sim. speed and alittle less weight. Thanks for the info.

Doing the physics on a plane like this can be tricky, it was quite a challenge because a plane with a 40" plus wingspan and such low weight and such a low wing loading the the sim calculates, when the real world bird does not fly like a plane with such a low wing loading. It is a plane you have fly in on landings not just cut the throttle and let glide. Just a example when I fly at my house my trojan will take off in as little as 20ft same as my Typhoon2 but landing it takes 3 times as much space.

As I noted turning the sim speed up adding a little wt to the fuse and maybe adjusting cg can improve some, but is not the total answer. When I finish the remake I will spend some extra time with different wing foils and thrust degrees.

Edit:

Here is preview of the new T-28, I did some early testing in 3.5 seems to fly much better has a better glide path with Naca 64-215 airfoil, with a 2.5 deg down thrust and has 12.5 oz wing loading at 32oz total weight.Should be posting soon....

The new T-28 is on the 3.5 swaps, I did some more flights this weekend on the real world model, and the RF model is a little closer, but not perfect, matching the sim to real world is quite a challenge with this plane, any of you av'rs out there, make it shine please.
