I was curious how RealFlight compares with the x-plane simulator at x-plane.com
Or can they even be compared?
Is x-plane more comparable to microsoft's flight sim??

I have all three
X-plane is deffinetly very simmular to MS flight simm
and x-plane 9 has more detail in the terrain than MS F.S.
It depends on what you are looking for in a simm
Altough x-plane does have rc aircraft in it ,it really can't compare to RF
But if you are wanting to learn about "real" aircraft as far as learning real world instrement training( vfr Ils etc.) flying ms and x-plane are the ticket.
And I like the "look" of RF's graphics better than x-plane its to "sharp" looking to me
but I guess that's a matter of pers. opinion
The one thing that x-plane really has going for itself is that it comes with a "built in" aircraft 3D modeling program so you can make your own custom models and fly them in x-plane!

It's a very broad question: Not really sure they can be compared.
I suppose the old saying applies: Use the right tool for the job.
I own all 3 and fly each for different reasons:
* Realflight for R/C Aircraft training
* X-plane or MS Flight-sim for some make believe-piloting. For sight-seeing and eyecandy I tend to use MS flight-sim more frequently. Can't speak for the flight accuracy of either one of them as I'm no real-life pilot.

x-plane is very acurate
So much so in fact
That there are versions available that are FAA certified !!!

Very true. I also heard that some airfields use Microsoft Flight Simulator X as well. Your able to get up to 15 hours on them. We had one in the small Municipal that I use to fly at with my Dad back down in Milton Florida. It was sweet.

Ya they have come along way....
I had one of the first flight simms ever made
it was MSFS 1 in 1984 ......lol...for the atari 800 ...it was basicly all "wire frame" on 2 big "floppy's" disc's with only 1 plane ...the piper commanche
LOL...at the time I that it was the BOMB!!

Probably was at that time. For them this was a new technology and was difficult to program. Now we have state of the art software and 3D rendering techniques as well as better programming software to speed up the process of developing the software. It is interesting how things have come from the first Flight Simulator to now.

Can I use my InterLink as a controller for x-plane? That would be kinda cool....

I don't know. I know you can use it in MSFSX (Microsoft Flight Simulator X) but you have to be really careful about calibration otherwise your throttle becomes your flaps and so on.

I do Know that it is possible to use a TX in X-plane
(but i think it requiers the use of a sep. purchased "interface"...but since the interlink is also an interface ..... use of the interlink MAY be possible either as an interface or directly)
But I personally have never tried to do either....Interesting question though  ........ maybe I'll try that later n let you know

Do a search I believe I read somewhere that some one was using there interlink for X-planes. My X-plane is still setting in it box it cam it so I can't try it . ( I ant get it to load on my computer )
