How do I change the direction of takeoff?

Edit the airport and create a new spawn. You'll have to save it as a different airport.

I have the Edit airport open and choose Airplane spawn, but I don't seem to be able to move it to change where the nose is pointed. What am I doing wrong?

You're probably trying to edit it inside a virtual environment using an experimental two color virtual display driver while the VMWare ESXi system is loaded on a blade server located in Taipai. Other than that everything is normal.

Apparently you missed the post where he was asking for help getting sound working in RF. Then followed up with his solution which was to import his Parallels VM into VMWare. So yeah "Mr. Helpfull" was giving him a bit of a raz about not mentioning a fairly abstract operating environment.
Sorry that we can't all be as helpful as you think you are. :p

Sorry, but I'm still confused after reading this thread and searching for others on the subject, as well as searching the manual. I'd like to take off in a different direction from the Flight School field (for example) in G5. With the field displayed, I choose Simulation > Edit Flight School, which loads the editor. Under Folder Listing > Flight School > Objects, I see two folders: Spawning Points and Game Spawns. Both seem to indicate there are a number of airplane spawning points already programmed into the airfield, but I can't figure out how to select one and make it the new default spawning point. What's the obvious thing that I'm missing?

Clicking on the object in the airport object listing "selects" it for you.
If you then right click on that entry you can center the view on that object.
Changing the direction can be done in the properties page ( by entering numbers directly ) or in the 3D pane, by holding CTRL while moving the mouse.
Each PLANE spawn point tends to have an associated PILOT spawn point.
Realflight selects the closest pairs, so keep this in mind.

also
Unless you like to take off heading downwind you may want to change the wind direction also ...that is if you use wind at all

Thanks for the guidance, opjose. That's just what I needed.
By the way, thanks for all your other constructive posts. I learned an awful lot by reading previous posts from you, jeffpn, and several others. The RealFlight Manual PDF isn't bad, but I wish a more comprehensive guide was also available - sort of a "RealFlight G5 for Dummies" book. Since that probably isn't realistic or practical, you guys really fill the void on these forums.
