Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Computer: Dell Studio XPS435
Memory: 6GB
Video: ATI Radeon HD 4870 with latest Drivers (Catalyst Version 9.10)
Error Message:
ERROR: D3DERR_Invalid Call
File: \DXMESH.cpp

The errror appears whenever I attempt to start Realflight G5 for the first time. After the error appears and I close the window, I can re-start G5 without any problems.

There's a thread somewhere around here about reinstalling DirectX. That may help you, too.

I am having the same problem. I installed the free expansion packs that were upgraded from the original real flight. I have tried to reinstall DirectX and that did not help. If I remove the expansion packs G5 start up just fine, however I get an error about missing scenery from the expantions packs.

Just to avoid confusing people, it is the AddOns, and not the Expansion Packs, that are free.

I am running Windows 7 (64 Bit) which has Direct X Version 11 loaded. The error occurs only on the first load of G5 after the computer is turned on. If I close and restart G5 the error message does not return.

I'm getting the same error on windows 7 home premium 64bit. At random the program crashes to a 4"X4" white square in the upper left corner of the screen and the error screen appears over it. It crashes after what looks like a normal launching screen with the bar saying it's loading the program. It's not only that error but a series of about ten DX errors. I click all of them off and send the report to knife edge. They have all my computer information. So for, no love from tech support or knife edge.

I'd recommend getting on the phone with tech support on this.
They should be able to straighten things out for you.

Try installing DirectX 9 as on the Installation disc over directx 11. I had an install problem (I am using windows 7... I skipped the install of directx 9 as windows 7 installs directx 11) and was told by support that even though windows 7 installs directx 11 there are files from directx 9 that need to be installed. Installing directx 9 will add these files to directx 11. Worked for me.

I did install the direct X9 off the disc on the second install. On the first install I skipped it, went ahead and updated to the latest version of real flight. I got the error every time I booted the program. I just went to the direct X site and tried to install directX9 from there. Got the message that I had a newer version, No go. Thanks for trying to help.

Please PM me with your RealFlight serial number. We believe we've resolved several of the crash bugs users have reported. I'd like to see if yours is one of them. If so, we would be very interested to know if the latest version (http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24565) fixes your problem.

My zoom type reverts back to "keep field in view" every time I restart the sim but I would prefer it stay at "manual".
