I recently got my Realflight 6 with both expansion packs and am very happy with it. It is going to be a great help in practice before I fly my new plane (I just purchased my first: an E-Flight Apprentice RTF). I have even been designing my own flying fields. I have a couple of questions:

1.) Just for added fun, I tried to download the "Team Los" buggy, but it said that I do not have the plane it is based on, so it will not work. Are there any downloadable that will work with my RF6 with Heli + Plane mega packs? I had no issue downloading the airfield that has the car track on it.

2.) My plane came with a "Spektrum DX5E" TX. The interlink is great, but before I go to actually fly my new plane, I want to try out my TX with RF6 for an hour or so, as my controller has a much different feel than the Interlink. I am told this will work, but every thread I have found on it offers no clear answers.

3.) When building your own airfield, how do you set it so your plane is sitting centered and aimed correctly aimed on the runway?

Thanks for any assistance!

Edit: Added 3rd question

1) Click the file name on the swap pages. Not the Green download arrow. The resulting page will tell you what you need.

2) Google Realflight dx6i. Maybe that page will help you get your real radio set up. Most of us just use the Interlink. It's alot more convenient. It'll happen to you, too. ;)

I fully plan to primarily use the interlink, I just want to get familiar with my new controller pre-flight. I followed instructions i found on the DX6i as well, with no luck. I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong. When plugged into the interlink, the DX5e lights up, even with the switch off, and I get a second option under the controller menu. Thanks for the guidance!

In the airport editor

To move any object in an airport
you first must hit Z on the keyboard (or right click anywhere in the field
and then select "Normal Camera")
then drag the object with the mouse to where you want it

When the object is highlighted its properties are displayed
to point the object in the correct direction change its "Azimuth" .
(some objects list "Orientation" instead)

Your menu looks to have more options than mine. I have a "Pilot Spawn" option, and tried changing the Azimuth setting, but my plane always points 180 off after saving and testing it out. I do not see the "Plane Spawn" option on my RF6 like your pictures have.

Since the Dx5e is not a computer radio so the ironcreek tutorial won't work for it. I don't know for sure it won't work at all though. Make sure you have your radio typr set to pass through. See pics...

Your new RF 6 should have come with a couple of cables to interface with JR / Spectrum Radios - Futaba.
Backside of your interlink controller has a 6 pin port to plug correct cable needed for your particular trans ( Spectrum ) . Other end connects to your transmitter. Back side of your trans should have a port ~ "D.S.C" This is a "buddy" box
port for use with another master trans when learning to fly real R/C with an instructor.

I fly Spectrum myself and have used this function with RF. When you do this, in your RF,
you have to choose a radio. It will now show 2. Interlink or Spectrum/ interfaced radio.

*Your radio has to be charged up for use before doing this * and turned on or it doesn't work.

Choose you radio. You'll have to calibrate the Spectrum like you would
for the Interlink controller.
Hope this helps. RF ~ good tool for learning, and to keep from getting "dumb thumbs" during the winter months.
But, previous comment from Jeff is right. It's just more convienant to use the interlink. Every time you re use, it's not saved. You have to re calibrate and you have to be charged up.

The menu shown in the top right of the first screen shot is the Folder Listing for the "Flight School" airport I was using as an example
If you are creating an Airport from scratch you would not have as many objects or options (yet)

Have you added a Plane Spawn?

The "Object Pallet" is not visible until you click on an object in the Folder Listing Menu or check mark it under "Window" in the tool bar
Then you can Add objects like a plane or heli spawn and make adjustments as explained above

Changing the Azimuth of the Pilot Spawn does just that.......
Changes the Azimuth of the Pilot Spawn
and wont change the Azimuth of the plane spawn ....you need to add/find the Plane spawn and do the same thing to IT to change its Azimuth

Thanks! That was it! (The plane spawn). I can't believe how many helpful people are on this forum. I wasn't sure what kind of traffic a flight simulator forum would have!

On another note, aren't you proud of the Maj?

Brings a tear to my eye, how much he's grown.

Here's what the Maj. is up against. This is a before and after shot of the SportCruiser; what it looked like when the Maj. got it, and what it looked like after he finished the colorscheme. His bump mapping is incredible!!! The man is amazing!!!
