Just got G2, have P3-450, 256MB, SOYO 6vba133 M/B, SB Live, ATI All-in-Wonder 128 32M, latest drivers for everything. System is completely stable, all DX8 diagnostics OK. G2 runs great unless I try the virtual flight instructor - I get audio something like "I'm going to show you 2 & 4 turn sp..ou 2 & 4 turn sp..ou 2 & 4 turn sp...." like a stuck record. System locks up tight, only thing that works is reset switch or power off & back on. I've tried other lessons with similar results. The Takeoff lesson actually completes, but when I terminate the lesson & try to fly again, system locks up tight when the plane gets about 1/2 way down the runway. Never locks up until I try to use the the VFI.

I've discovered that I also occasionally get lockups with gadgets showing (especially radio) or a binocular view window.

This could possibly be a problem with a MP3 codec (Which is what the VFI audio uses). Do you know if you have any MP3 software installed? Also, what CPU and graphics card are you using. It could be there is not enough horse power there to run it.

With my pentium II 266, w/3dfx voodoo4 4500 apg 32mb 3d card, 96 mb ram ( pc66), 10gb 7200 spin Hard drive, I think 2 mb video ram, 19" monitor, 24x cd, windows 98. Running in 800x600x16bit at 140 refresh and running in Full Screen or windowed screen in G2. The Teaching lessons work.
It's not super stable as far as not locking up but pretty decent as long as I don't RUSH from one lesson to another. I haven't tried all the lessons but did try to check out a few. Seems to work pretty good on my computer.
