I just got RR G2 today. and I'm having a heck of a time getting this controller to work. I'm running windows 98se with DX8.1 (latest from MS) The problem I'm having is that in control panel it list the realflight controller but says it's not connected. I'm at a loss of what to try next and wondered if anyone had a simlier problem. I've tried both the game port on the mother board and the game port on my Sound Blaster live. I've tried to add a 2 axis 2 button controller in control panel game controllers and still it says "not connected". Any help or tips will be very welcomed. Thanks

Dija reboot after you installed?
Are you running any virus checkers?
Dija upgrade your software thru this site?

I moved this topic to the RealRace G2 forum from the RealRace Classic forum since it deals with G2.
RL_Mojo, do you have any other controllers connected to your computer, either Game Port or USB?

Yeah I followed the games instructions for install however on my first attempt to install I had my MS force feek back wheel pluged in.. so I uninstalled G2 and reinstalled it with only the RR G2 controller pluged in. all anti virus software and related I disabled before installing. I tried to get the latest update but they had server troubles. that will be the next thing to try. If anyone has any ideas though I could sure use the help. thanks.

This may or may not help, but it's definitely worth trying: even though you disconnected your MS wheel controller, Windows might still have it listed under Game Controllers, which can confuse RealRace. If you see anything other than your RealRace controller, delete it. Then, make sure the RealRace controller is listed and try again.
Upon rereading your initial message, I just noticed you said the Control Panel showed your RealFlight controller! Was this a typo, or do you have RealFlight as well? If so, the same thing I posted above applies, so give that a shot and let us know what happens. :)

ok the only thing listed in the control panel / game controllers is realflight_controller a friend has this sim. and he says it list the realrace controller as realflight controller in win 98 and it works for him. he has win XP also with RR G2 installed and it list this same controller as realrace controller. I'm still waiting on tech support to answer me but no luck yet. thanks for the help guys. I'm still stuck in case anyone still has some ideas.

Ok guys I've done some more testing with an old MS sidewinder controller I have I may have some kind of gameport issue. the status of the MS freestyle pro when pluged into the game port says Not Connected, but when I attach the USB adapter on it the restart the PC it shows up as Freestyle pro (USB) status OK. I've read that there are game port to USB adapters availible to use with the RR g2 controller. For some reason I can not update the software to .177 I get a Servers are not availible or down when I run the update. What I was wondering has anyone tried to use an adapter from another controller (in my case the MS Freestyle pro) with the RR G2 controller to use with USB. and could anyone could to take the time to walk me through doing this. as I found other topics on using USB I got lost in the trail of Info. Again thanks to everyone who has takin the time out to help me with this issue. Strange that I find more help on message boards than from the Tech support. which I am growing more and more upset with over this issue.
I use a Rockfire RM-203u USB adapter. It works great with RealRace classic and RealRace G2.
I just setup the controller in windows control panel and calibrate it. Then run RealRace G2 and change controller type.

I just went through this! I needed a USB gameport adapter to install my pistol grip controller into my new PC. INstalled G2, and it said there was no controller connected. I went to my Control Panel and yup, it's there. Ran the calibrations, troubleshooting, etc. G2 still would not recognize it. So I run the installation anyway, and in the options area find the "controller" and it has a self calibration utility. I ran it, and wallah! The controller is working just like it should.
So, bottom line is install the game, bypass the dialog box that tells you the controller is not recognized. Open Real Race, and in the options area (toolbar up top) click on the "controller" and from there set and calibrate your controller.

Ive installed, and reinstalled, uptodate drivers. up to date everything
STILL i double click (or click directly on the exe, OR use the Menu provided by the CD) the RR icon and the splash screen comes up, then it gives me an hour glass crusor.. then returns to normal, nothing happens after that.. i check task manager, no programs, i check processes, realrace.exe isnt running, ALTHOUGH when i watch "Processes" then double click the realplay.exe, realplay.exe shows up in the processes for about.. 3 seconds then disapears..
I tried sending tech support but your assembles system information button directs to a file directly into a C:\ drive (which is a common HD letter, but ive set mine to E, and it doesnt pick that up, (bad programming?))
Help.
Ive spent 117 bucks total on this game. its really starting to erk me
EDIT: If i disable my game port via device manager it starts up fine and says it will take 45secs to detect my game port and controller etc etc, if i leave my game port ENABLED, it just crashed as explained above)
EDIT Cont:
Im using a Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer, latest drivers etc
Geforce3 MX440 128MB
P4 2.26ghz
