People bitmaps/textures .........

Is there an option to turn off the bitmaps/textures that respresent people?

While I relish the thought of flying into them, it would also be nice to simply switch them off.

Or are they 'compulsory' when flying against others online?

You can turn the people off by editing the airport. The people objects are actually in the tree editing area.
