If you've succesfully managed to connect with other G2 owner's over the net in Multiplay.
Could you please state what your computer setup is so that others can get a better idea of what it really takes to be able to use the Multiplayer feature.
Many Thanks,

I think its less dependant on computer specs as it is connection specs ;)

But I run a PIII 500, 256m ram, Voodoo3, 56k modem which connects at 28800 on a good day, I can usually host 2 or 3 people without to many complaints.

I have heard complaints from people on cable and DSL that it will drop them out regularly.

Yep I have much more luck when I use my modem than when I use my High Speed connection...

With High Speed, I can't stay connected to a host if here are more than 2 players, and there is a lot of timing problems in both the events and multiplayer in general.

With my modem, everything is fairly smooth... We were 6 players conected at one time with no problems...

I have a PIII 450, 64mb and a VooDoo 3 3000 videocard. Not the most powerfull combination, but it runs G2 pretty well.

Max's config is about the lowest I would recommend.

The trouble with mplayer is that you need a computer that can handle the graphics (more planes to draw on the screen) + the additional data load (data packets comming into your computer).

We're currently testing a patch for the mplayer events.

I am using a 1.2 Ghz PIII with a NVDA TNT2 with 32 meg and A Soundblaster audio card, I get a 53 to 56 K connection every time and with the "new" version of G2 the quality of the "other" players is almost as good as mine. I can now see all the little movements in the helies that were missing on the earlier version. I am on almost every night and post IP's on Rotory.com and Burstable.com
