My husband is getting back into the RC Planes again after having taken quite a few years off. He has mentioned something about a simulator that he could use during the winter months to help him practice. I am totally clueless as to what products are available but would really like to get him something for Christmas. I would appreciate all the help I could get without being "taken for a ride".

By far, Realflight G2 is the best thing going, IMHO. To get started you need to go to Tower Hobbies web-site and look at the software area and navigate to simulators.
The price to get started is $199.00 with a controller included. Then you can purchase the five additional add-ons for $29.99 a piece(believe me, once you've got the original, you'll want the add-ons). Yea, it's pricey but still doesn't add up to what the cost of crashing your brand new airplane and destroying it. :D
One thing to remember, install the software exactly as told, to keep the little bugs out.
Hope this helps.
Your hubby will love you for it :)
BTW, it doesn't require a high end computer to run the program but more is better. I believe the minimum specs are listed with the software page at Tower.

Oh BTW, DUH on my part. There is a button at the top of the page that says Knife Edge Software. Click on that to take you to the home page. You can look around there for some answers to your questions.
