Tried fixes prescribed on websight, but can't get to work.

I have an old version of classic: ver 1.10 Bug fix says you need ver 1.20 or higher for it to work.

The bug fix does not recognize the CD when I hit setup it just says to insert realflight cd even though it is in the player.

Tried to install classic and then use fix on deluxe upgrade, but no luck.

Tried to install normal with no bug fix, but does not recognize controller and gives several errors after it loads.

Please give me something to try, and don't say dual boot with Win98. I was doing this, but Internet Explorer 6.0 crashed on install and I will have to do a clean install of Win98.

I am running Win2k Professional, Voodoo3 video card, two Pentium 233MMX CPUs, 128 Meg Ram, DirectX 8.1, with the realflight controller.

Notice the dates on my post and my real flight is still unuasable. I am not a happy camper here.

I am trying to install rfc 1.10.63 and rfdu 1.20.191

Tried so far:
Tried: Results
Install rfc, rfd, and run: controller doesn't get recognized.

Install rfc, rfd, upgrade to rfc off website and run: planes work, but try a heli and it keeps asking for original rfd cd after hitting fly now even though it is in the bay. Cd is read for a couple of minutes then it is spit out and requested again.

Install rfc, then rfd upgrade and run: Program runs but no background pic. and many errors about missing files. Can't fly anything

Install rfc, then upgrade to rfc, rfd: Program fails to load. Splash screen apears computer works for a minute then nothing. Check task manager and rf is not running.

Install rfc, then upgrade t rfc, rfd, then upgrade to rfd: heli problem again planes work.

Come on people, I have been waiting for a new bug fix file upgrade to fix this. I have called customer support back when the first message was written here. You know about this, why not fix it.

And, no sending my cd's back in is not acceptable to me, nor should it be to any one else.

I work with a company that sells $25k industrial tools. If someone calls with a problem even if it is their fault, they get a new one when they check their mail in the morning. Even if they are based on the other side of the world, we take the shipping loss. They don't have to send their's back first either.

I am a registered customer. Why am I not being treated like one?

BTW, I am a programmer slash electrical engineer who designs. We thouroughly test each product before it leaves manufacturing. Here's an idea, try the software before it's released on machines an end user might use. You might actually get something that pleases a customer instead of wasting his or her's time. Come on guys, you call yourselves programmers and modelers?

ouch!

You're system looks to be somewhat dated. What kind of CDROM are you using?

I would also try tech support again. You might even look at gpsoftware.com

You said to read your previous posts. I did.
You speak of being a programmer/electrical engineer who designs. Do you have to deal with a extremely wide variety of equipment, which you have no control of selection of
processors, interfaces, power supplies, memories, and, custom build every piece of product you sell? I doubt it if your product is going out the door for only $25,000. My point being; Realflight software engineers try to cover the bulk of the operating enviroments that they can expect out in the real world, but there is no way that they can cover every contingency.
Call 1-541-745-0224 for tech support. I'm sure you can describe your problems in great detail to them. Try faxing them at 1-541-745-5055 with an illustrated diagram and flow chart so that they can assess the situation. Finally, try RFsupport @GreatPlanes.com.
This is a forum of users, not programmers, and the information you may receive here is voluntary and sometimes not completely accurate. But, it is generally offered in good faith and if it has taken you almost nine months to get to this point; either pursue the phone #'above or put your stuff up on E-bay and hope for the best.
Have you went to the knowledge base of this website? There is a great deal of info. contained there.
I sincerely wish you a satisfactory conclusion to your situation. :)

Your first sentence is probably the answer to your problems.

You have an old version of rf classic. I Doubt that it will ever run successfully on XP.

Why don't you upgrade to the latest version and gain the new features at the same time???

I fly Ultra Stick 40, Fut. 9C and can do rolling circles now. Thanks RFG2.

I to am having problems with RealFlight classic. I've changed from a working system with Win98, and 200 Mhz Pentium. Went to a 1.2 Ghz Athlon with same CD drives, same HDrive, same video. Program simply will not load.

Previous experience with this company, Great Planes has informed me that their product is copy protected, and WILL NOT RUN ON MANY CD-RW drives! They could not tell me which ones. Seems their product uses areas of the CD that will not read with the CD-RW drives. This is direct from Great Planes.

I also work with a company that has high priced equipment that is programmed with PC's. We also make certain that our programs will work properly on all formats, like Win98, 95, NT.

It looks like GP does not.

Electric Guy, If you have the same hdrive, why do you have to reload? If you have the same cd drive and it read off the disk once it will read off it again.

If you truly have to reload you must do it this way to be sure that you get a clean install. If you try to run RF before finishing and it crashes then some files get corrupted and you need to start over.

1. Unstall rf.
2. Manually delete the KE folder in "windows/program/common".
3. reboot.
4. reinstall rf but do not try to run yet.
5. Reboot TWICE.
6. Update RF if possible.
7. Reboot.
8. Run RF.

If this doesn't work then come back here with some specific problems and we'll try to help you.

But remember... that "classic" is getting old now and just how long do you expect software to remain current?

To the High flier
I did try all of the fixes you recommend. The original classic RF does not load. It gets to the transmitter alignment, then everything turns white, and the PC locks up.

I am using the original GP CD. I've tried four different CD drives, two are R/W drives, two are standard CD drives.

The problem is not in my PC, its in the GP program, since everything else I've loaded with this same PC and drives works without a single problem. This includes MS Office.

I had to reload the program when I added the second CD drive as drive "F". RF must be re-installed if the CD drive is changed, thats when everything quit.

You mention an upgrade to the latest version.
1. How much approximately?
2. What assurance do I have that the latest program is any better?

You should contact customer support and find out the answer to these questions. Your system and rf just don't seem to get along together.

I just bought RF version 1.10 on ebay and I have windows 2000 pro. I need a game to USB adapter which I ordered so haven't tried it yet. But it seems to load except with a error message which I assume is because I can't connect to the controler yet.

Anyway, what does the upgreade cost and does it work with win 2000?

Never mine. The upgrade to 1.2 was free so I installed it already.
