View Full Version : Using R/C Pilot controller in other Windows applications?

Received R/C Pilot yesterday. Out of the box it wouldn't recognize the controller and it froze after I hit the "Fly!" button, but after an update to 1.20.131 everything was OK.

I'm still perplexed though why my vanilla Win98SE system (PIII/800, 256MB RAM, 20GB HD, Voodoo3) tells me the control is "Not Connected" in the Control Panel --> Gaming Options section. I was hoping to play with this controller in other Windows applications, but since it's not recognized as connected, I can't do that.

So how is it that the R/C pilot software sees it attached to my Game Port but Win98SE
doesn't? Is there something I can do to fix this so I can use the controller as a dual-joystick in other Windows applications?

Works for me as a joystick in any applications that requires a joystick....

If my memory is right, there's an option called "poll with interrupts" (or something like that) in the joystick properties page... experiment with different settings to see if it makes a difference.

Also upgrading your gameport driver might help ( soundrivers should include the gameport drivers if the gameport is part of the soundcard...)

Still not working. In the "Gaming Options" control panel icon, the status of "RCPilot_Controller" remains "Not Connected". Controller works fine with R/C Pilot, not as controller for any other apps.

I thought since this is the Technical Support forum for Knife Edge software that someone from that company would respond. Phone calls are usually a waste of time, so does anyone have a suggestion as to how I could get support through these forums?

d3z is your simulator software working correctly with the controller?

And the problem is that Wondows doesn't see the controller to use it with other programs?

Yes, controller works fine in R/C Pilot.
No, it won't work as joystick with other games.

I doubt that you can and I would'nt expect that it would work with other applications.
