What's your OS?
You need to install and then before you fly, update. The updates fix some of the problems and the earlier versions may not run properly with DirectX 8.1. Also the drivers of Geforce cards may cause conflicts with older versions. Even though the Geforce cards work better than most others.

There is not a better card that I know of. It does cause some problems because the latest drivers are really uptodate and if running an olderprogram on them there might be a conflict. Using G2 there should be no problem at all due to the Geforce drivers. But if using Win2K or XP they cause some diff. since they are so buggy.
