Why must I enter a serial number for a piece of hardware? Is there really a problem with pirate hardware for this program?

Your instructions both on screen and in the box claim there is a serial number on the case of the transmitter. There is not. There never was. The serial number was on a separate piece of paper which has since been lost and now that I have a new operating system I cannot install a piece of software I paid over $200 for because it wants a serial number for a piece of hardware (the ONLY piece of hardware I've EVER seen that requires a serial number to be installed).

How do I go about getting a new serial number without spending more money on a long distance phone call? I don't even remember if I registered it. I have my cd serial numbers for the classic and the G2 upgrade but they appearantly are worthless without the transmitter serial number.

You have a great piece of software but your anti hardware piracy methods make me wish I'd never purchased it.

Also, is it not possible to run this program from the hard drive without the CD? Or is that another anti-piracy feature?

Most of the people reading this forum are users, not
KE enployees. Sometimes they check in but if you
really want to get your message across, you must
email customer support.

Customer support should be able to get you your serial
number.

I have 3 diffenent programs that use "dongles" for
copy protection and the all have a serial number.

Goodluck...

I fly.

Vitticeps, which version of G2 are you running? By that I mean, are you using the RealFlight controller that plugs into your gameport? Are you using the Transmitter Interface (which allows you to use your own radio)? Or did you get the USB InterLink Controller upgrade on top of the Classic->G2 upgrade?

I ask because the InterLink is the only one of the two controllers that has a serial number. It should definitely be on the back of the unit, and if it's not, please let us know. It doesn't sound to me like this is the controller you're using, though.

If you are using the gameport controller, you do not need a serial number! You can simply skip entering a number in the "Transmitter Interface" box during installation. Now, I realize this might seem obvious. But the fact is, more than one person has been confused by this and thought they needed to enter a serial number when they didn't (including me when I was new to the company). Sometimes it's easy to miss that you can simply enter the first number and then click "Next" with the second box blank.

I hope this helps. If you are using the transmitter interface and still need a serial number, AC was right: customer support can fix you right up.
