Hey,

Will G3 work without the controller who comes with the package? So i could connect my transmitter direct to the computer with it's usb cable? like it does in G2 ?

Mail,

RF G3 is only sold with its own controller which is usb, you can't buy only the software. Also you can't use the RF G3's controller for RF G2 and vise versa.
But you can use the RF G2's controller in tandum with the RF G3's controller in split screen multi play mode ( not to be confused with multiplayer over the internet). For more info. See: "RealFlight G3 section"/ "Presales Questions" / Thread "G3 Controller" on this discussion board.
If you haven't already, maybe check out Tower Hobbies, they have additional info.
Also other info. on the welcome screen of this site.

NO, I just tried to use a joystick, the RF G3 program will only run with the transmitter it comes with.

I want to clarify in case there is any confusion here.

The InterLink Plus, which comes with G3, will not work with RealFlight G2.

The G2 InterLink, will work as an additional controller in G3 (for the split-screen mode) if you already have the InterLink Plus connected. But you can't run G3 using only the G2 InterLink.

You can connect your own transmitter to the InterLink Plus and use it to control G3, just like you could with G2.

G3 does not support regular joysticks, the old RealFlight gameport controllers, or the old parallel port Transmitter Adapter.

To summarize: G3 requires the InterLink Plus, through which you can optionally connect your own transmitter, and the old G2 InterLink will work as a second controller if used in combination with the new InterLink Plus.

WELLLLL

a few days ago I used a sailplane in G2 with the G3 controler using two channels because the rudder and gas stick was not working in that program.....

Mac.

We moved this year so i can not test what I think will work but maybe someone else can do so. Use the USB to gameport adapter on the G3 controler and select realflight win2k controler in XP setup box. You may have to try differant setups but I think it will add the rudder and gas stick so that you can use the G3 almost like in G3 when in G2.

when I find my adapters I will do some playing to see what happens, I am disabaled spelling wise and more and the garage is full of boxes!!!

have fun

I use my old (gameport) controller (which came with RF Classic and been used since with RFD and RFG2) for other computer games, mostly other flight sims (not to be confused with RF competitors).
I'd like to know, apart from the fact it can't be used for RFG3, if the new Interlink Plus controller bundled with G3 is compatable with other flight sims like MSFS, CFS, etc. through the standard "game controllers" cpl in control panel.
I'm afraid I can lose all the fun I have using my old controller with other sims if I opt to sell G2 when buying G3 (a move which makes much more sense than getting a measly $25 rebate for "not selling it", as offered by the upgrade path).
Ryan, Travis or anyone else at KE, if you know the answer please post it. Thanks.

I also would like to add to many others before me and say this upgrade offer is not encouraging (to put it mildly) for any of us veterans of RF all the way from the first version through RFG2 to keep upgrading. I know you folks at KE don't have a say about pricing, but I think it's important that you relay the overwhelming discontent it has caused to GP. After all, if the loyal base of users diminishes becuase of it, the losing end of the bargain will include you too, as well as GP and the users themselves.

I'm not sure if it will, but anything is possible.

@Travis:
Thanks for the quick reply.
Hey look at my new avatar - it's my dog and his name is Fitz. When he was small he bore an uncanny resemblance to your dog.
