I was injured in a motorcycle accident the day after Thanksgiving, and I was bored at home, and immobile. I purchased RF G3 as a fun diversion (already own G2). As with so many others, I couldn't run the game with my existing vid card (ATI AIW Radeon). At first I was frustrated, but finally decided to research a new card. After a week of web research, (and disgust that some cards are $500) I found a BFG GeForce FX5500 OC on sale at Best Buy, for $59 after rebate. I couldn't justify spending big $$ on a 6800 based card unless I was upgrading my whole PC. I am now able to run G3 at medium settings. The slope soaring is great.

I felt compelled to send in positive comments about G3, realizing that there are some unsatisfied users out there. PC's are finicky beasts, with ever-changing tech, and I have had my share of compatibility issues. My aim was to give fellow upgraders hope that there are relatively cheap solutions out there. Happy flying! :D

Slider,

I notice you are on Oahu. One of these days, I vow to slope soar over Diamond Head crater! Last time I was there, the lift was huge. :D

gflyer,

When you do make it here give me a ring if you'd like.

And I've climbed a little on Diamond Head and "no kidding"almost got KILLED! Very dangerous trying to climb that mountain.
So if you do fly your glider there and by some chance it gets lost on the hillside.
WATCH OUT! NO kidding that mountain can be pretty dangerous to climb if you had to so if you lose the glider on the mountain, unless your pro mountain climber with all the climbing equipement. LET IT GOOOOOOOOO! :p

gflyer,

Forgot to add this.
I don't know if you ever checked out the Kaiwainui RC airfield thats in Kaneohe on Oahu. And unfortunately I'm not able to get out there much at all :( but if their still using it and I figure they are. The glider pilots fly on certain days on the hillside thats just south of that airfield. The FIRST pic that I've included below shows a hillside thats just South West of that air field. So in the picture itself, the glider hill is to the left and maybe a quater mile maybe half a mile away from the mountain thats shown in the pic.
The glider hillside is actually located on a still active dump site but its pretty far away from the actual part of the dumpsite thats still being used. Its also a pretty gradual but not that gradual slope hillside that is grass covered.

RC -

I was on my first ride of the T-giving weekend, in the So Cal desert, northeast of Los Angeles at a dry lake bed called El Mirage. I was riding my Suzuki DRZ400 down a rocky hill and dumped it. I guess I landed on a few rocks. Broken scapula (shoulder blade), wrist, some good bruises on my arm and leg. I've been riding about 30 of my 39 years and this is the first time I've broken bones. It's been 3 weeks, seems like months. Luckily the shoulder joint was ok, no surgery needed. Now it is just the slow path back to health. So far so good. :D

gflyer,

Who knows maybe we bump into each other out there.

And sorry I didn't ask how you were doing. Figured, aah he's a biker and an RC,er so he's tuff. :D

And if by any chance your at all into racing pylon keep an eye out here in the disscussion board, I post in here every now and then when I'm hosting.
You to RC 4 Fun. :)

Oh yea, I used to dirt bike a lot before, yamaha 175, but they closed most of the open spaces around here so ended up selling the bike about 10 years ago.
And for the only track that they now have open, I'm not able to get out there when it is open so. Brrb. But want to and might do it again later.
I do get to surf though once in a while. :)

Yep, broken bones ain't no fun.

Get well soon.

OUCH!!!!!!!! That's gotta hurt!!!!!! :(

I'm glad your healing....even though it's a slow process....and the more years you have on the ole body....the harder it is to heal. Been there....did that! :)

You take care of yourself and fly your planes for now. You can always go back later and break more bones when you get bored with RC. :D

RC,

I just came in here to add info to another thread I started and I'm preeeety pooped and have lots of things going on here so I don't think I can go into detail and I shouldn't actually go into detail because I don't want to do it in a rushed fassion and foul it up. :)

But I'll try to add what I can right now.

First its not all that hard to connect.

IF you have a firewall running, you need to make sure that G3 is on the list of exceptions that your firewall will not block.

Ah heck I'm really pooped and I know this is going to take a while to do correctly so I think I really should wait till I have the time and am not slow in the head. :p

Sorry have to continue later. Will try to do it as soon as I can.

Adlai :)

Hey RC 4 Fun,

Well I'm up again and ready to go......well at least I'm up. :p

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be pretty busy for at least the next couple of weeks. So as far as hosting I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to host for a least that time. But if I do I will post about it and there are other people that might do the same and if not there might be people attempting to host even though they don't post it here. And my best guess that people might attempt that is on weekend days roughly starting from noon Hawaii time, that should be 5 pm eastern and 2 pm California time.

If you haven't already check under the thread "G3 users, any initial Feedback?" which was started by warlocg under the "General G3 section" . In my first reply I do talk a little about mulitiplayer.
Also, If I or someone else doesn't post any information about how to host or join in multiplayer. Try checking out the "KE welcome page". The one you came to before coming here. There is information there that explains about multiplayer. Try clicking on the "knowledge base" and fiddle around in there or maybe try clicking on "Realflight G3".
I myself am going to try to write down information for multiplayer and present that infomation via an attachment. Same as the pic attachments that I've added above. But again, I know I'm going to be pretty busy for at least the next couple of weeks and also being the holidays, you know friends and relatives gathering, thats the good part :) . So it will probably take some time before I can complete that. When I do complete it I might post it or attach it here, if not here I will post it or attach it when I post that I'll be attempting to host.
Its not all that hard to host or join in multiplayer.

Well got to go for now sorry I couldn't really give that much information right now.

Looking forward to connecting in Mulitplayer.

Happy Holidays. :)

And get well soon gflyer.

Happy Holidays to all.

Adlai :)

Slider....Thank you for your time. I realize we are all going to be busy with family so don't worry about this stuff now. I'm sure we'll have time after the holidays and things settle down. I do appreciate your willingness to help. You sure do a good job of that and I for one say thanks! :)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!! :)
