All,
I just found this link on www.rcuniverse.com website. Here is a link to download the heli release.

Here is the post that I just read there:
Ladies and Gents-
Just wanted to stop by and let all of you know that the highly anticipated RealFlight G3 Heli release is available for immediate download.
Here's a link to the site:
http://12.156.2.54/downloads/RealFlight3_00_366HeliUpdate.exe
The update itself is approximately 140MB. If you're on a dial-up connection, I would advise you to either find a friend with a DSL or cable modem connection. Alternatively, you might also consider visiting a local library or Internet cafe and downloading it to a thumb drive or similar device. The FREE update discs are expected in Champaign in approximately one week. We'll be sending them out immediately upon their arrival.
If there's anything that you'd like to see added or refined in the simulator, don't hesitate to let us know. As you probably know, software is ever-evolving.
Good Luck and Good Flying,

To your knowledge, can this update be installed directly on the original version of G3, or does it require to have the online patches installed before attempting to install this update? If not, does this update include the currently online patches?

I cannot say. I can tell you that I have the latest patch installed and I did install the heli's download and just tried out a few of them and they worked great. I'm not a heli pilot per say so other may see something I would not.

At this time, guess we should be thankful that this update came much earlier than Spring 2005! Thank GOD and KE for that!

YES THANK YOU!!!!
I also just installed it and all the Heli's including addons thru five work!
I had the lastest beta patch installed prior.
Wonder why the update does not appear in the update window and why no mention yet on this forum by KnifeEdge?
I was hesitant at first to get the update from a 3rd party site. I was desperate so I downloaded, scanned for virus, then installed.

I think you can rest assured since this download is not from a third party server. According to the link, it seems to be on the same server that this forum is hosted on.
I'm still waiting for the file to download. Guess i'll be the first one to try it on the original, unpatched G3.

LOL....I did the exact same thing as you did. I was a little leary at first but then thought......HEY...I fly RC right? LOL
When I fired up my laptop and hooked up the Gee3 controller it said there was an update and did I want to install it? Yes....and it updated the launcher to version 329. Then I installed the heli update and it works fine.
More to fly now! :)

As a new guy to RC flying and this forum, I find the wildly varying views and opinions interesting. As a software developer (for Victoria's Secret no less) I understand the inherent issues with building comercial grade software in a timeframe that makes customers happy. I've used Reflex fs and it's pretty good, has a few hiccups, and being new I find it somewhat limiting. I should get the G3 pkg with all add ons today/tomorrow and hope to install prior to leaving for the holidays...i just got the heli download as well... I'll be happy to take any advice on installation "gotchas" or warnings anyone would care to share... Again I see there are varying levels of success...my pc is a new gamer pc, so video/cpu are fast and current...
Anyways, happy holidays from the new guy! :D

DDbones....It went as a normal install simply double clicking on the executable. It has the usual license agreement info....shows the install path and does the install straight forward. At least it did on my PC. :)
If you have not upgraded the Real Flight Launcher to version 329 that would be one thing to consider as many have had issues before getting that patch. My PC also had it and as I say...no "gotchas" on the heli install.
Here's to wishing all a Happy Holiday....and a Happy New Year! :)
Thanks for the heli release too! :)

You can install the heli update directly *without* downloading and installing any other updates. Essentially, all updates are wrapped up in the heli update.

Could you provide more details?
What airplanes are you trying to "access"? When you say that you cannot find a plane that you created with Add-Ons 2 do you mean an airplane that you made a copy of and then modified through the G3 editor or something else? You say you have Add-Ons 5 installed (I'm not sure why) and then go on to say that you re-installed them all but "...it still insist that they are not installed." Do you mean the Add-Ons planes don't show up in the selection dialog? Or are the Add-Ons planes in the selection dialog but when you select one it gives you an error?
Please reply in a seperate thread.

I'm sure many people have questions and responses to the heli update so I would encourage people to start new threads with specific topics.
This one is being closed so that it doesn't spin off in to many directions.
