I've recently bought the G3, got the disk 1 add ons installed after a brief hitch because another program was running. Now the disk 2 add on won't install.
It starts up, asks for the language, goes to the screen saying "Scenery 2 Installation Script Setup is preparing InstallShield Wizard etc, gets to 100% and stops. After awhile that screen just disappears.
No other apps running per the task manager, anti-virus is disabled. I'm stuck, I've tried running disk diagnostics=OK, defrag=done, even ran a chkdsk showing no problems.
This is a new Compaq computer, WinXP Home SP2 with all available critical updates installed, 2.93 GHz P4, onboard Intel Graphics card with 224M DVMT RAM available to it, 1280M of DDRAM total system resources. The original install of G3 and disk one add ons is running fine.
I know it's a bad time since tech support is closed till Monday, but anybody got any ideas?
Thanks.
edit info:
I originally had the RealFlight simulator that came with the Nexstar trainer installed on this machine. I had a problem trying to download an update, so tech support e-mailed me the file. I un-installed that program before installing G3, in looking at the files on my computer, there is still a bunch of files uder "Realflight" as well as the "RealFlightG3" files. Dates on those indicate the old package, if I attempt to access that program via the install disk to remove it again, it says the update needs to finish downloading and the option to remove it is grayed out. So obviously, there's still a bunch of crap on the system from the first install of the Nexstar only program. I considered deleting that directory but it's got DLL's in it and I got a warning about other programs may not work.
