Editing Twin to Electric

I have the G2 version and am trying to create an electric twin model by editing the Twin Star IC model provided.
I find that the motors seem to be connected in series to the battery resulting in having to double the battery supply to achieve the desired wattage. This, of course, adds condsiderably to the weight and messes up the balance point.
Is there some way to overcome this problem? Not having an option to connect the motors in series or parallel or changing the weight of the batteries to compensate for the series connection makes it impossible to create the model.
I'd appreciate any input. Also -- does this same difficulty exist in G3?
