Trying to Understand the Gyros

I have the original G2, the parallel interface and Futaba FF8 transmitter.

I'm having real difficulty understanding the gyros and getting them to work as well as my real GY401. The effectiveness of the gyro seems to vary from model to model, most being pretty good but the worst being the Impala with Training Gear with piros anti-clockwise.

I've tried every form of gyro but they all seem much the same.

I've switched on the gadgets to try and understand what is happening and am even more confused. For example, I set the gyro gain to 85%. When I look at the gadget it shows 100% irrelevent of what the gain is set to (and I am looking at the gyro gain and not the TX gyro switch position).

Can anyone offer any advice.
