Message for Knifeedge Re. RealRace

I assume that someone from Knifeedge monitors this forum every now and then, so here goes -

There are still a number of us running RealRace G2 even though the official support system has been abandoned. You see posts from time to time where another user has to stop running the software because his/her CD is damaged. Sooner or later, after inserting and removing the CD some number of times, all of us will eventually end up with some minor damage to the CD and no way to run the game. There lies the biggest problem with software that requires the original CD to play.

I just installed RRG2 on my new machine and found that the online registration, update check, etc. no longer connects to anything in cyberspace.

Since the software is no longer available, can't Knifeedge make available to registered users a new executable file that doesn't require a CD to run? There's no great amount of money to be lost - the software hasn't been available for years. It seems the least you could do for those who have supported your products.

I would appreciate it if you could find time to respond.

Thanks

I completely agree. I havent messed my cd up yet but I got 3 friends that have and can not play due to it asking them to verify that they have the cd. Also, I have a friend that just got a new puter and put realrace on it and can't hit the servers for registration or update.

I wouldn't mind an update on this either. I got my cd used and it still looks great but I know after a few too many tired days it might go bad. This is an excellent option for the people who actually use the software.

I'd like the opportunity to buy it... but I can't.

Come on, KE... how about re-releasing this on Steam or something? There are NO off-road racing sims out there anywhere.
