Those wheels had rounded edges, with the sadle for the tire being half moon shaped, deep. With the rim folling that same shape. Plastic, crome plated.

Retract motion is correct:
mains & nose wheel all tuck in towards the wing center

Good call by flexible in spotting the axle is shorter than the tire width, so the hub does curve in. Didn't notice that. He must have a side job as a private investigator!

Okay fly_electric, you have your choice of the wheel in #78, or these. Either is fine with me.

This one (post #89) looks good. In keeping with the "period" wheels, the #78 hub is open all the way through, so this seems closer to it. Bottom line: it works for me.
