FE: this I'll say - Doug would not manipulate that file to change a component name. That's like scrubbing the floor with a toothbrush. Sure, it gets the job done, but WAY too much effort.

No, but I would do it to change or correct a file association. Even I only resort to direct manipulation of the files, when there is a problem that is beyond the scope of the editor to address.

Yes, it worked correctly, but it is NOT the preferred method!

Fly_electric has requested a modification of making the aileron hinge on top.

FE, is this what you're thinking? Since the wing tip tapers, the aileron separates a bit from the wing on the outer end. If there's a way around this, and still keep the shape of the wing, I don't see it.

The gap allows about 30 degrees of aileron deflection.

I'll have to remap both the wing and the aileron when I have it dialed in as requested. Control horn and pushrod so far are remaining unchanged.

Jeff,

Looks about right. A photo of the original shows the gap on end of the wing. As a matter of fact your version looks even better. 30 degrees looks about right.
Headed out on a short trip, but will check this thread and PM tomorrow to see of you have any questions I can help you with.

The change looks very, very good!

My pushrods aren't long enough!!!

Here's a question for you, Scott. How do I make this cylinder longer by moving the top edge loop? It's not an x, y, or z only direction. I can do it in Wings and bring it over, but then I have to reassign parenting, pivots and materials.

There are a couple ways to do that but the easiest way to explain here would be for you to first select the hole at the end using the border tool. Then in the right hand menu click "cap". Now select that end poly and extrude to the length you need. (extrude will always follow the tangent of the polys normal). Now select the edges that used to be at the end and hit ctrl+backspace.

[QUOTE=Fly_electric;229157]Hab,

That You Tube was from 2008, and HL isn't offering it anymore as far as I can see

FE .... came across this when looking for a starter today. Ended up on their site
scrolling threw. Dealer for Graupner. Figured I'd toss this link. According to this,
might still be available :

Thanks Hab.

Availability isn't clear though if it is offered. Did a Graupner search and what appears to be their US distributor apparently does not have available either:

Just as well as don't care for the red color choice.

The site did have some interesting photos though.

Yea... not to crazy about the color scheme myself. Easy enough
to change though ..... strip it and either mono or ultra cote.

Maj., I'll be sending you this one today, along with a few pics. Physics are done. FE did a good job on them.
