Have you applied an alpha channel in the image editor?

I added gradient on the RGB layers and lightened the alpha layer. No difference between the Russian Thunder and the Sbach in execution so this must be the case.
I tried checking that box and set the opacity at e0e0e0 and had a very dark tint on the outside but still completely clear on the inside. So maybe they had a shell on that canopy. Anyway thanks for you help I have another strange problem I'll post a question about in my Lazy Eight build thread in a moment maybe you can tell me what it is. I'll post a close picture of the problem.

Johnny31297, thanks for sharing your thread with me.. similar problems

Yes, the exact same texture works flawlessly in 7.5.

technoid, collecting knowledge in as few threads as possible is cool! Might help others as well. Now that you mention it, I'm seeing the same thing on my BO 105, windshield being tinted black and named ~CS_GLASS, material is called ~CANOPY in Max, 2-sided option unchecked. RF7.5 gave me tint and reflection from inside the cockpit, X doesn't render it at all.

Have to correct myself, the inside of the windshield IS rendering. I see reflections, no tint though.

We just updated the creation guidelines with more and clearer information about how transparency works. Please review that and check all of your naming and parenting to make sure it adheres to what we've laid out there.

If you still have questions after that, please post again with the latest details about what you're doing and the result.

I assume this means that we still can't work with texture alpha. Either the object is transparent or opaque in it's entirety.

Another example would be this gauge needle. It's a 2 triangle plane named ~CS_GNR, mapped onto the needle's graphical representation on an alpha background, material is ~ALPHA. RF 7.5 renders it just fine, X leaves the Alpha black. I obviously can't separate transparent and opaque meshes as it's just two triangles, naming it ~CS_GNR_T would render the entire needle transparent.
