R/C Dog House-- revisted

Going out on another limb on this one, but next will be a foam board version of Al Signorino's original R/C Dog House. Having seen those having flying success with taking a full 20"x30" foam board sheet, adding a fin and elevons, it seems that is essentially what the R/C Dog House is in a FB version.
Doing some testing with another expendable, non AXI power setup in RF, it looks doable. Plan is to go with full sides plus slots, and a three wheel setup. RF model presently has three slots per side, but when starting the real model, went with two. Dropped in the power from the FBW, so that will get changed as the project develops.

As the goal is to retain the cool look of the original (no pod "cheating"), it is clear this one will be a challenge to get the RW balance correct. For example, its probably a given the flight pack will get mounted span wise right under the L.E.

As RF8 will be out soon, this model will also probably get posted for that version.

Not too much progress on the new RC DH of late. But have got the sides and "floor" packing taped. For concentrating the as much functional weight as far forward as possible, have cut a scrap aluminum and hardboard sheet. The theory is the aluminum will also provide the strength to support the wire LG, and the slightly longer hardboard will spread out the landing and takeoff forces between the aluminum and softer foam board.
Several ideas have been considered on how to best make the roof support structure, and think I'm zeroing on the basic foam board pieces. So, with that in place, those details have been added to the 3d model to keep the RF<-->RW design process going. Also reworked the roof slats to be more accurate to the planned RW dimensions. Not modeled (or maybe will only be CS'd) are the CF reinforcement pieces where needed for foam board support.

Enjoy a great weekend.

Thread change:

As my Max 2012 license will end soon, the new RC DH will not likely be released in RF7.5. This build thread is therefore moving to the RF8 Designer's Corner.
