Thanks guys I really like the Somethin Extra too so your comments caused a change to Junker. It's not finished yet but I started on a turtle deck tonight to make it look even more like the Somethin Extra. I still need to reshape it some but it's getting there.

I like to fly slow and close to me so I like lots of control surface area to make the plane more responsive when I'm flying slow and close.

I'm not sure you can see the difference but I just finished more work on Junker's turtle deck. If you look close you can see the rounded out area on the front of the canopy and the angled back area where the canopy ends. I guess it's time to work on something else now. I think I'm going to try to make a short set of checks that would just cover the carburetor area, but at least it will have something that rounds off a bit instead of totally squared off.

I don't know if anyone is looking at these pictures but here's one more. I modified the landing gear to make it look very similar to the Somethin' Extra, not exactly but close. I also added some wheel pants to finish off the look.

Ha.. Now I need to find another name for the plane because it's nothing like the plane I was going to create. But I do like it.

I didn't like not having any cheeks on the plane so I made some that are just long enough to cover the carburetor. I may go back and tweak their shape once I show the engine again I was tired and wanted to stop.

If this was an actual kit, you better bet I would be building it. I LOVE IT!

I went back and reshaped the turtle deck tonight more like the Somethin' Xtra and tweaked the canopy a bit too. I still haven't had a second look at the cheeks I made this morning with the engine showing but I'll probably do that next. Anyway this plane sure has changed from what I started out to make but I like the changes really well. Here's a picture showing the reshaped turtle deck. Before it went straight up with a have circle shape at the top instead of the pulled in look you generally see. This may end up being a pretty decent Somethin' Xtra XL. I'm not saying that's the name I'm planning to use, dunno yet.
