PCI graphics card suitability
I am awaiting delivery of Real flight G2 USB which should be with me soon.
Problem is that I have been told that my graphics card may not handle this. My card is built into the motherboard and cannot be expanded or changed. I have been told that I could insert a graphics card into the available PCI card slot but can anyone help me by telling me what kind of card I should be looking for (make, type, memory for instance). Help would be much appreciated as the computer stores over here (Scotland) are useless to say the least. Tony Ivanov. |

I don't know the answer to your prob. but you're going to have to give the specifics of your whole system (O.S. Cpu, ram,and so and so forth) for the people that know their stuff to help you.
Good luck and there will be someone out there that can assist you as soon as they know what you have. C-Ya! |

This is a correction to my earlier query on PC card Graphic adaptors.

You need to give the actual brands and capacities of all the hardware that you are using. The people that will help you need to know how your computer is configured. What is your video card, how much hard drive space, processor speed, and all the other things that make your computer work.
You can go to the RealFlight homepage and look at the system requirements that are needed to run RealFlight and go from there. I know this seems complicated, but trust me, you can get throught all this and have a great time flying. Good fortune to you. Keep the sunny side up and the dirty side down. |

Hi Hobiewan,
Windows ME 512Mb RAM Pent 3 1GHz 40Gb Hard drive Video card is SiS 630 which uses shared memory of 16Mb at present and can be increased to 32Mb if necessary Direct X v. 8.0 I use Microsofts flight simulator 2000 at present. I keep getting conflicting information about what my system will handle that I am wondering if I have done the right thing in ordering Real Flight G2. I would really like this simulator to work on my system as I would seriously like to fly R/C helicopters but knowing the difficulties and costs I feel this simulator would help a great deal before trying the real thing. As my computer is relatively new but not expadable (I got this model which suits my work in photography)I do not want to have to buy another. Tony Ivanov. |

Graphics enquiry
Hi there,
To anyone who has read my previous messages I would just like to add that My Real Flight G2 arrived today and despite my inadequate graphics card the software seems to have loaded OK and my initial attempts at flying have proved exciting. I admit the display is a bit jumpy at times but once I have got the hang of making adjustments to the program parameters I may improve things. The main thing is that I am flying and the purpose behind this program is to learn how to fly before buying the real helicopter. Bye for now. Tony Ivanov. |

After awhile you are going to get tired of that jumpy vid.
When you do make sure you deal with a comp. store that will allow you to return the card if you do not like it. RFG2 with a good card on a med. computer can be very close to real model flight. I fly. |

Graphics Card
If you wanted to get more out of the Machine you got which sounds like a great processer.
If there is a Best Buy by your location, then you should beable to talk to one of the computer people there. First give them all the specs you have. I built 3 computers and always stay away from mother boards with their own stuff in there, but you should beable to go to your device manager and deactivate your graphics card then shut down then place your new graphics card in then reboot. The pci graphics cards should work not AGP (accelerated Graphics Card). I think there is a good nividia Graphics Cards you can get for like $100 bucks or so with 64mb of ram or 128. There are some with advanced ram called DDR ram, but might not work with pentium being I believe your ram is called D-ram. G-force MX 64mb ram PCI slot might work for you system, but you will have just deactivate your motherboard graphics card. To get to your device manager you right click your little Icon computer and scroll to properties and this is a quick way to get to your systems management. Click on device manager, find the graphics card display adapaters, uncheck exisists on all hardware profiles. Make a copy of this messeage to you and give it to one of the sales kids they are very knowlegeable about this stuff they will say ya or nay. As the person stated above you will get a more accurate flight experience also way better graphics. I have the G-force2 64MB DDRAM it is alot faster then 64SDRAM but 64-128SDRAM is just as good. The main thing is NVIDIA drivers were bought by creative labs and are pertty much popular and also this game suggest these types of cards. Hope this helps you and hope you can get the motherboard thing worked out.

USB Interlink version- Availability in the UK?
Tony
Do I assume you purchased your USB G2 from outside the UK. I have been waiting for this product to arrive here for months, have I missed anything? Any advice on availability in the UK from any one would be much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation, Marty. |

Correction on disabling the insidemotherboard graphics
You would have to disable your motherboard card in your bios commands. Once you have done that you should beable to put in your new card in. Most stores should walk you through it being they want to sell you the card. If and when you get your new card don't forget to plug your monitor in the new card.

Graphics
TO: Tony Ivanov
How are things in Scotland these days Tony? I used to live in Lanarkshire years ago, but now live in Minnesota. Anyway, I just recently purchased G2 and use it with an ATI Radeon 9000 graphics card with 128MB video RAM. You can "turn on" everything and fights are very smooth. Would like to hear from others who have more or less video RAM and what they experience. |

Graphics Cards
TO: Tony Ivanov
It sounds like you might have an AMD processor snapped into the motherboard of your computer. I have an AMD and noticed there was no standalone video card. My computer came with 32MB video which appears to be installed on the motherboard since I could not find any "old" video card to remove. Anyway, check and see if you have an AGP video slot on the motherboard. The slot is different from the others in that it has a small plastic or metal "blade" with a button that snaps into and locks the "foot" on one end of the graphics card when you insert it. I would suggest you use a 3D card with 128MB of video RAM for best results...the more the better though! PCMCIA cards tend to be associated with laptop computers, PCI with desktop. |
