Question "d3dx9_36.dll", error 126

Just received the package today and installed it with no problems. However, when trying to run it, I receive the following error:
Cannot find import; DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version
File "d3dx9_36.dll", error 126

System: Windows 8 Pro with Media Center 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200) (9200.win8_gdr.130531-1504)
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1055T Processor (6 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
DX Version: DirectX 11
Installed in: C:\Program Files (x86)\RealFlight7
Free Disk Space (C:\): 1286861 mb free
Launcher Version: 1.00.008
LauncherHelper Version: 1.00.010
RealFlight version: 7.00.025
RealFlight 7:
RealFlight Interface:

As can be seen, the computer has the latest DirectX v11, both 32-bit and 64-bit. And, the accompanying manual says to use 9c or later.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

BTW, hope you had a great and Merry Christmas.

Yup... even though you have the latest DirectX installed you STILL need to install DirectX 9.0c.

Don't worry though, the installers are very smart. Only the missing files will be installed and your more recent version goes largely untouched.

The installer tries to set up DX9 for you automatically but a lot of people seem to be making the mistake of cancelling the installation.

Remember to reboot after the DX9 installation.

Yep, I figured that out yesterday. Thanks for the reply, though. Just wished they would have made it that clear in the Installation Guide and manual. Best in the New Year.

Yup, a notice in the installer about this would be a good idea.

Glad you got it sorted out.

Happy Holidays!

Time to start downloading planes....

It is part of the install package... read as you go along and install DX9 when you are requested to.

It is also available as a single file on the DVD.

At worst you can find it on Microsoft's site via Google.

Search for

Microsoft Directx 9 redistributable.

Un-install Real Flight... then reinstall as administrator. Right click on the install file, and run as administrator. Also install Direct X 9.0c

You don't have the redistributable version then.

The redistributable will run no matter what is installed and refresh or update any missing files.

Click me!

Download and run the above file.

It will ask where you want to place the output files. Select/Create a new folder.

Once done, go to that folder and right click on DXsetup.exe

Select "run as administrator".

Let it complete. It will take a while to unpack and install all of the files..

Reboot once done.

What exactly did not work?

Did you get the DirectX9 updater to work or not?

I gave you the link in the other thread.

You must run the DirectX installer that ships on your RealFlight disk.

With your RealFlight disk inserted in your drive, run X:\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe (where 'X' is the letter of your DVD drive). Run it as administrator.

Let the process run to completion. If it does not report success, something has gone wrong, and RealFlight will not be able to run.
