Anyway here's another beta if you're interested.
Always interested in your beta's, keep them coming.
Imported into RF-X with no errors and fly's great, over 140 fps in the air, 120 fps on the ground. Does this have collision mesh ?

Short flight video.

Unusual the editor did not complain about the lack of collision mesh, now with a mesh I might even get better fps.
Excellent model.

I'm not sure about the F8F I've kind of been winding down on modeling so I'm not sure when I'll start on it again. I don't have much to do on the Yak to finish it but each time I start to work on it I put it off till later. I actually did add one more thing to it. The real Yak has a grille on the front of the cowl and one of the RC Yaks I seen had a grille with a thin frame between each section and I thought it added a nice touch, not wide like the real Yak but enough you could see it. So I added one which is the last thing I've done to it. But the nine cylinder radial for Big Red Mk II will probably be next on the list.

The wing tips always seemed a little too wide to me so I searched for a good view of the Yak 55m again and found something pretty nice, so I used it to do a final resize of the wings. The tips were definitely too wide and the root was just a tiny bit to narrow. So I adjusted the size and I'm getting ready to go back and remap them. I tell you one thing all the different companies making Yaks adjust the size of the plane to fit there own bill. I've made two different views by taking a top down shot of a Yak and cutting it out in Photoshop to make a template for 3ds Max and they were all different than the real plane. But I guess that's why everyone says different models fly the best. I guess I better get back to work and remap the wings.

Must be a million Yaks out there .. so yours will be the million and "oneth" don't worry about copying something exact.

No kidding there's a million Yaks out there and they're all different. I wasn't so much worried about copying something exact but just getting it to look right to me. The view I found on the net was the real plane so I used it and the wing tips look good to me now. They were just a bit wide for a hot dog plane like that. I just finished remapping the wings and updating the color scheme to match the new size, so hopefully I'll finally quit tweaking it and finish it out. Here's some pictures for you, the last two are the grille on the front of the cowl. The first picture is the one I modeled and the second picture is the rc plane I modeled the grille after. I think it adds a nice look to the plane. Oh.. When I resized the wings the Ailerons also got a bit wider.

I worked on the 1x1 mapping today and thought I was about finished until I realized I hadn't mapped one part. There's two small parts on the rudder on the inside edges and I mapped one but the other one got mapped with another part, so I had two parts in one. It's not a big deal it was one of those flat surfaces between the left and right sides so I'll map it the next time I work on the plane and finish the 1x1 mapping. Then it's time to do the collision mesh and release it. So things are coming along.. except for the parts I forgot to do that is.
