Yes, that's the battery I found and modified to suit my needs. Potentially stupid question: What battery template does one start with to create a custom pack?

You are probably trying to edit the wrong file. The regular CS is just called Jack knife.tga

Pull it out of: documents/Real Flight G4/Vehicles/Custom Models/1 Jack Knife and then save the new CS as a different file.

Hmm, ya got me! I just took the default LiPoly 8000 mah battery, copied it and added "Custom" after its name and started messing with it in the editor until it did what I wanted. Being totally ignorant about 99.9% of things, that's how I work - make a copy, google a bit, mess around, try to learn something, and hope I don't FUBAR it
