How long do you reckon until the project will be up on the swaps?

More specifically, how long until all the kinks are worked out and CS finished?

I was unaware he was working on a deadline. If you are polypoke's client, please accept my apologies.

It is alright to inquire on the "when," as that tells me that there is an eagerness to download this project. The short and sweet version is that it will be ready when everything is complete to the satisfaction of Larry & myself.

So far, we've worked together very well. He'll point out things that need to be fixed, and I'll point out things that need to be fixed. We're both going in the same direction at a pretty good clip, IMHO. Most of the work is in Larry's court right now, graphics-wise. The 3-D model is pretty much a done deal.

I hope that it meets everyone's expectation when she does see the light.

Have a great weekend,

Owen

And that's the answer all if not most modelers give. No modeler here gets paid for this, and it's all done in spare time!! To me, your answer is obvious.

Are you guys serious? Well if you guys are, my answer is no. I get on the forums in the morning, on the bus, to and from, and any other free time I have. And I usually forget to log off during school hours (and it is in my locker).

Again, don't judge. That goes for modeling, too.
Anything else to say? Please post in my thread.

...Am I serious? Well, I am a serious guy, but I don't take things too seriously, that is what keeps me young, I think.

I carry a smart phone so I can access forums during the day, too. When I see a project I like, I get excited also, and I start to think, "I wonder when they, or it, or whatever will be done? Or even just give us another update???". We shouldn't ever let that excitement die within ourselves, IMO. But then again, I am only 42.

I have at least two more weeks to go on the CS, before I can hand it back to Owen as something of which we can both be proud. But here's the 'giant legal asterisk' to that...(Insert Giant Legal Asterisk here) The process of creating is truly an enjoyable one, so when I am done with MY little part, it is game over for me until the next exciting opportunity presents itself, so why rush?

Owen has done a fantastic job on the model AND the physics (it ISN'T just another tail-standing hovercraft, and it LOVES to snap hard and tumble), and I want him, the other people who have contributed, and of course the RF community to feel the same about my tiny part, the CS.

Color is nearly complete (mostly just the screws and logos left), spectral layer is under constant revision to keep up, and normal is all that will be left to do, here in a few days. Owen and I have been good "second sets of eyes" for each other, and the project keeps getting a little sweeter. The other day I had some questions regarding the reflectivity of some of Skip's CF covers, Owen got the answer for me from Skip directly, which is sure handy.

I know Owen is excited to get this thing out there for everyone, I am too. It is coming, progress is fantastic, we are each working hard on details, and I feel it is going to be worth the wait, whether that is in 2 weeks or 20.

Stay tuned! Here's another couple of my irritating preview tiles (collect them all!) to tease the CS a bit more. One from the top R corner of the cowl, and the other is the underside of the wingtip(s). Both snapped in-game for your viewing pleasure.

Enjoy the day,

Griff

Normal ... kinda

While twoeleven has been pushing pixels around on the textures and spec map, I've been tooling around with the normal map. I'd say this is a pretty convincing representation of the stretch between the ribs on Skip's wings!

Additional progress...

Owen is dialing in his normal effects for the wings and control surfaces, I'm down to some rivet re-work and some general cleanup.
