Multiplayer directory server issues

We are experiencing some issues with the multiplayer directory server. It appears that periodically something goes wrong which causes users to be unable to join any sessions. We don't know yet what is happening; we do know that restarting the server seems to "fix" the problem for awhile.

We are looking into this. In the meantime, if you notice these sorts of problems again, let us know and we'll restart the server. First, though, please make sure you're unable to join any session, not just having problems with one or two.

This problem affects both G5 and G4.5.

Thank you for your response to this problem. Since it seems to be happening quite often in the evenings and on the weekends is there a way for a notice to be sent to someone about the problem as it's happening or will there be someone monitoring posts during those times as well?

Thanks again!

Don't run back to the office in the evening to restart the server on my account, Ryan. I'll just fly solo until the morning.

It is actually something we can maintain remotely, providing we're notified.

Since multiplayer isn't a necessity for the sake of rc flight practice, you guys should announce a date you'll be possibly bringing the list server down or that we'll experience latentcy during that time. Run a debug session during this time and hopefully it'll catch your ghost in the machine.

I don't know if you guys have also ruled out the router(s), but run a debug on that too if it only handles traffic to the list server. If done during non-work hours for me personally, I would assist in any way possible with testing. I'm sure others feel the same way.

Obviously I don't know your network, but if I could bring down a network to improve service I would do it. Just my thoughts. Hope you find what you're looking for.

When the server experiences problems plenty of people would notify you given the chance. If it's after hours or on the weekend it seems to be luck of the draw as to whether you guys see posts in the forum. If you have a way to get that notification to you during those off hours the users will undoubtedly send it.

Thanks!

Thank you for digging into this, its been randomly occurring for awhile.
multiplayer is so much fun,
it'll be nice to have the server be solid when you guys get it fixed.
build up a lot more ppl online that way.
usually ppl come here and post when its down, is there a better way?
a RealFlight IRC channel somewhere?
