Rf 8?

I'm sure someone has asked but could not find in a search.
Any idea when RF 8 will be released?

Only Ryan knows that. I am hoping for a 64-bit compiled version to be included instead of just the 32-bit. I know the latter works on all computers but has it's restrictions like how much memory it can address. I'm sure the people who design would like to see an increase in the amount of polygons that can be in a model etc.

Their normal release scheduled dates are around October. That's when we have always received the new versions of realflight. If they are keeping up with the same release schedule, then October should be when it's announced.

I am hoping that the new version of RF might leverage my laptops GTX 960 card instead of the internal Intel graphics. I suspect that would be a massive graphics improvement. At this point, I have to turn off alot of the graphic features and run in less than 4k mode to get decent frame rate response.

This is a setting in your laptop, not realflight. You will probably need to set up a profile in the Nvidia graphics adapter settings for RealFlight to use the discrete adapter and not the integrated gpu. This issue has been covered many times before in these forums.

It's up to the publisher (Great Planes/Hobbico) as to how it's distributed. With their primary outlets being brick and mortar hobby shops, that's probably how it's going to be done which is what they always have done. It would be nice to allow the upgrades to be sold as a digital download though. Even if it's through their own site.
