Strange, Unusual, Sci-Fi, and Movie Aircraft Request

Give me some idea guys. if you've seen my planes you can tell I like the strange ones. Like I've been thinking about doing the Batwing(the Micheal Keaton one) or the Winnebago from the movie Space Balls.

Please give me some fresh ideas and please provide some pics. Possibly some 3-view drawings.

Oh man, the Winnebago would be awesome

I have no idea where'd you'd get 3-views, though I could look for pics, but the alien fighters from Independence Day would be cool.

I'll come up with more later.

Hmm, the assault shuttle from the second "Alien" would be cool - especially the way the ordinance pods deployed.

Thats why I suggested both sets. Not just the TOS Vipers and Raiders but also they're updated versions and variants. Oh and add to that the BSG Raptor. That would be an interesting model to see.

The Combine H/K Chopper would be fairly easy, it's a pretty traditional layout with a main rotor and tail fan. I guess you could probably build a body kit for a TRex that would represent everything, with the obvious exception of the tail fan.

The Gunship Synth, though, that's a different story. It only has a single main rotor and appears to change direction using its flippers.

The X-31 Vector is on its way.

On another note when you make your request be sure to post pic, 3-views, or at least a link please. A designer is a lot more likely to pick it up if you do so.

There you go for some of my favs. These aren't my images or websites so I hope it doesn't violate any rules. Edit: I'm looking into allying myself with another modeler to create a Raptor heavy fighter for Real Flight.

Russian concept flying sub.

I saw this concept along time ago but could not remember anything about it. Of course leave it to the History Channel! It was to be called ( LPL ). I loaded up a file to You tube from my tele.

I know this is a G3.5 but how cool would this be in G.4!

I highly doubt we can get three sided pics of this but I have not looked to much yet.

This should be relatively easy, actually. There are tons of BSG meshes out there; it'd just be a matter of finding a good one and Kexing it. (of course, permission, etc.)

The fun part would be trying to do it while remaining true to the visuals; I've seen examples in various sims, but they either rely on cheating the flight model (the physics have no relationship to the geometry of the model) or adding parts (I saw an X-Wing once in X-Plane. The designer added a canard to make the plane flyable.)

The real problem with Vipers and Raptors is that they rely on a mysterious, unexplained form of lift while in the atmosphere and during takeoffs and landings. Raptors are definitely VTOL's, and while I don't recall seeing a Viper land in the series (I know that there are no landings/takeoffs in TOS), I think it uses the same technology. Remember that great shot in season 1 where Apollo hovers his viper in mid-air, blowing up a Cylon mining facility?

At a guess, I'd say that they're supposed to be using anti-gravity or repulsor lifts, but since neither technology exists in the real world, we can't replicate it in RF. (FYI: Repulsors are the Star Wars version of anti-gravity. The difference is that repulsors are kind of like magnets that push against the ground, and so can only be used for landing and takeoff, not as a replacement for airfoils. The technology is discussed in a couple of the books)

If you DO start a BSG project, I think it deserves its own thread.
