Yeah, I have pictures of that on the Wingnuts site. In what I have seen, there isn't clear daylight around them and it looks like it can be handled in the bump map. If this isn't the case, let me know.

I know you wanted this model so when it starts coming time to make trade offs on detail, let me know what is important to you. No guarantee I'll do it, but I will definitely take your preferences into consideration. Of course we are no where near that yet.

Here is a first cut of the exhaust stacks. Triangles are at 4438.

Check out page 7 of the wingnuts manual here: http://wingnutwings.com/ww/1CF5CEF47...615107BCAC2DE4

I can leave the reinforcement off, like earlier period which I think is what the RC model is doing. I have it as a separate object, so for now, it is easy for me to take it in and out.

I wanted to get at least a little done today even though I know it wouldn't be much. Here is the front lower wing attachment. Willsonman, notice on this screenshot I have left off the later period reinforcement for the landing struts.

Yeah, I figured that out. It makes more sense with this detail for those not familiar. Really coming along well.

Thanks.

Today I added the rear bottom wing attachments. I also added the struts that attach the fuselage to the top wing (Although the fuselage is not actually completed where the rear struts are located). Also added were the attachment points on the wings. I could have just done that with bump mapping, but in this case adding them is very cheap triangle wise and non-bump mapped stuff works better in some lighting situations (not as dependent on angle, etc.)

Sometimes things work out great. In this case, my front struts attaching the wing to the fuselage go just inside the exhausts. That is just the way it is supposed to be.

Triangles are now at 5,086. That seems like a really good number. However, some very expensive polygon parts still need to be added (pilot and observer, machine guns and mounts).

Whenever possible post a viewport grab of the edge flow. Max has a built in viewport grab. Just go to Tools/Views-Grab Viewport/Create still image. Ignore typing in the dialog and click "Grab" save the resulting image just as you do renders.
I find the wireframe view interesting and it helps others see how it gets done.
It's coming along nicely and by the sounds of it the poly count is staying down.

Nice tip. I didn't know that was there and have been doing screen grabs into photoshop. Obviously this is much easier.
