Please don't take offense. This is a fun little project you have going.

Ok, you got the Galileo going, I might have to try my hand at the other end of the timeline and do the Delta Flyer!

I'm still working on the physics for this one and have pretty much got the slow-speed flight to the point where I want it, but high-speed flight is still bumpy. The primary flight setup is much like a co-axial heli with very heavy rotor blades and Harrier like thrusters. I put some wing surfaces in to try to aid with the forward stability at speed, but it will fly without them.

I'd like to get some suggestions from people more familiar with heli and gyro configurations than I am. I think I may have added too much gain to the gyros and that is contributing to the bumpiness. I almost never use gyros and may not have done it correctly. As new features are still being added as I model them, please post any AV's with your screen name embedded. Also spell out the suggested modifications in the text of your post.

You'll all have a few days to play with this as I'm going back to work do some more on the 3D model. Even though this is a boxie model, I've got a fair bit of motion planned.

Thanks,
Doug

I suppose I should tell everyone what the controls are:

Left stick - Throttle (Fwd Flight)/Yaw Thruster
Right stick - Roll/Pitch Thrusters (Gyros will hold orientation)
Knob - Vertical Thruster

Dual rates are active

Flare....
Hes already posted a WIP EA ...why would you think he wasn't going to post it when he was done ?
This is not dhk's first time to the Rodeo
I'm sure he has the CS handled , and I'm pretty sure it won't just be a color fill

Usually when a modeler takes the time to model something
Swaps Is usually the destination he had in mind for the file

Looks great.

I think the UFO physics from Dr. Moo's UFO would work better in this instance though. its a lot more stable in all aspects of flight than this and a lot easier to figure out how to fly it since it works like the harrier.

Edit: I posted a AV with the Physics Moo created on the shuttle and it seems to work fine.

I already looked at Moo's UFO and while it flies nicely, it doesn't fly right for this application. It is based on the Harrier and flies like one. Go watch an eppisode of Star Trek and watch the shuttles, that's the motion I want duplicated.

Those old shows look like the space craft was hanging from a string being moved in front of a star background. I think that if they had CGI back in the day or a better budget than what they had, The Original Series spacecraft would fly a lot smoother than what was depicted on the Television shows.

Right or wrong, it's what he's looking for! You can always make an AV for yourself.

Fun model to fly. Hope to see some more space models for RF.
